Wasn't aware of the various award subsets (Musical Influence Award, Musical Excellence Award), although wouldn't a band's degree of influence and excellence be part and parcel as to them being nominated/inducted in the first place?

I find it bemusing as to whoever out there in rock fandom bitches that such and such didn't make it on the first try or whatever, since clearly everybody and anybody will get in there eventually.

Have never been to the place myself, but I imagine I'd have the same reaction I did when going to a Hard Rock establishment and seeing some famous musician's instrument or item of clothing under glass...the reaction being that rock and roll placed in a museum or inertly encased in glass represents the exact opposite of the living, breathing nature of rock and roll that attracted me to the music form in the first place.

But, you know, whatever...as a living, breathing thing rock and roll has pretty much petered out anyway.

A repetitive guitar player is there ever was one and his singing is atrocious, his songwriting outright stupid and his ego-sucking attitude ruined the band. All that dude can sing about is his cock and how much his cock misses Stevie's love canal. So Stevie did a lot of cocaine, you eat a lot of pizza and watch the NFL and complain how Democrats piss off your obvious lack of education.

She also has more money than God, your F A T orange messiah and the bank of Switzerland combined. She has also done a lot to help wounded and homeless vets, fought for women's rights, and she stomped all over your sexist male dominated music industry.

Get the fuck out of here.

But as far as Stevie's role in the band goes.... she's only there because Lindsey INSISTED on it. Fleetwood Mac wanted him as a singer & guitarist to replace Bob Welch. They didn't want Stevie because they already had Christine McVie in the group and couldn't imagine why they would need two "chick singers".

Lindsey said... "Nope. It's a package deal. You get both of us, or you get neither of us" And the rest is history. Troubled history though it is.
I do like Stevie Nick's both in FLWM and solo. She played here on her last tour and by all accounts she was quite good. But I concur what she did was criminal and turned Fleetwood Mac into a fucking joke casino and fairgrounds replacements shill-band like Journey and Foreigner have become. Hell I guess Burt Cummings the founder of The Guess Who is suing the current members to cease and desist any use of his songs like "These Eyes" and "American Woman" because the current lineup has nothing to do with any of the original members.

Lindsey Buckingham is also a bit of a whack job but I think Stevie's 'Me-Too" bandwagon crap is just pure hypocrisy as she was a abusive as Lindsey ever was if not more so. And calling Lindsey Buckingham "a hack" is moronic as he produced and arranged almost everything the band ever did, including Nick's songs. But hey, have fun watching the Crowded House singer mimic a "hack"....

I would have banged her too if I was hanging around back then. Grace Slick might be on that list too. “Back then” is the operative phrase

It’s 2024. I’m amazed anyone in Fleetwood Mac is still alive. Who cares how them old hippies fuck each other over.

    Mushroom’s hot takes today:

    1. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is getting watered down. Yet they exclude acts that contributed far more than some acts that have been inducted. Fuck’em.

    2. Foreigner. Really? It’s cool they had a mix of British and US band members. But imagine Mick Jones walking in one morning “I’m pissed already and I need to smoke a fag” and Lou Gramm says “oh that little bitch is mad today and he’s gay” and they’re already miscommunicating - makes for a funny scenario. They had a few great tunes. I’m on the fence with Lou Gramm. Sometimes his voice is (was) strained like a suffering cat. Reminds me of Sammy Hagar.

    3. Fleetwood Mac absolutely belongs. I try not to pay attention to band politics and drama, but yeah I’m bent that Stevie ousted Lindsey. Yin and Yang. I get it, Fleetwood Mac started in the 60’s. I was tripping on a Fleetwood Mac live album last night. I love this album because of the vibe, the ambiance… Live (1980). I recommend the 2021 expanded edition.

    Meh.

It's kind of difficult for me to care much about 'Fleetwood Mac' in terms of where the band is at these days (who is in, who is out, who is in control, who feels slighted).

Creatively, that band haven't put out anything I've cared for since Mirage.

They had a solid reunion with that The Dance thing in 1997. The live stuff I've seen over the last 15 years hasn't been particularly compelling Nicks sings as if she's just woken up from a nap most of the time these days. Now Christine McVie is dead. The rest of them are getting up there. I suppose the band could just consist of Nicks and a bunch of nameless hired hands and that could be called Fleetwood Mac and still sell tickets...I understand nostalgia and wanting to hold onto one's youth, or relive a glimmer of it. Does anybody really care about the whole Nicks/Buckingham relationship and their lovers/ex-lovers stories that have regurgitated 8 million times over the years? Obviously, compelling when the Rumors album came out. 45 + years later, not so much.

(In all seriousness, I have nothing against Taylor Swift...I just don't give a fuck...and certainly not enough to actually find myself in the sad position of being banned from one of her forums...though Wolfgang Van Halen banned me from his Twitter channel for making fun of the fat fuck.)

Kristy, are you on Thorazine (Chlorpromazine)?
I will say Blackmore made a bold decision in putting the Strat away in the mid to late 1990's and playing the Renaissance music that he both loved and considered more of a challenge to play. Much the same as he made a bold decision in leaving Deep Purple in 1993 because he no longer found being in Purple satisfying or challenging. It would have been all too easy to keep churning out the old Purple hits live and getting a paycheck. He left Purple, made another attempt at a Rainbow reformation, then when that didn't work he finally did what he had wanted to do musically. One can say "blah blah blah Ritchie's wife made him do it" or whatever but the fact of the matter was certainly by the time The Battle Rages On album was being recorded that Blackmore was disenchanted with regurgitating the same type of hard rock he had been for decades.
