The Doors-they're great. But, they are also quite strange sometimes. Because people are strange when they're a stranger, faces look ugly when you're alone. When you're strange, faces come out of the rain (etc). Actually, 3 of the original members are still touring under the name 'The Doors Of The 21st Century' with Ian Astbury from The Cult filling in for Mr. Mojo Risin'. After seeing the film-they could have used Val Kilmer.Fast & Bulbous, Got Me?Comment

FAKK I've gotten so much into The Doors lately.
It took me years before I started to actually buy their studio albums as well, I got their Best Of when I was a teenager...but these albums have so, so, so much more to offer.
Now I must say my fav album at the moment is WAITING FOR THE SUN. Some really amazing, sad but determined stuff like "Summer's almost gone" and "Yes, the river knows". Fookin' ace.

I got into the The Doors in my last year of High School and that music got me through alot of shit I was going through at the time. Day and night, I would listen to that music constantly. They were magical!
Like Van Halen, it's hard for me to pick one favourite song. I lean towards 'Touch Me', 'Waiting For The Sun', or 'Not To Touch The Earth'.
'The End' is an epical work of art.Comment

That reminds me I plan on freaking some people out by singing the uncensored version of "The End". Can't wait to see the reaction on people's faces when I say: FUCK, FUCK YEAH, FUCK FUCK!!! or simply: father, yes son, I want to kill you! LOLComment

Anyway, my friend is a big fan and he's played me L.A. woman, although I can't actually remember it. But I remember it was alright.
Do the do a song something like Roadhouse Blues?? Not sure if I'm thinkin' of a different band or if the titles different.........
Yes, the Doors are having another crack at the title. They are using Ian Astbury of The Cult on vocals and he is awesome. He's no Jim, but then, noone is. They've seen fit to try recording new material - i just hope they can do the legend of the Doors justice. Unfortunately John Densmore (drums) dropped out & for a while they were using Stewart Copeland (The Police) but it's someone else again now.
My mate saw them live and he was well impressed. I hope you all give Astbury a chance - Danny Sugerman was suggesting him as a possible substitution for years, before he died. If you have a chance listen to the "Stoned Immaculate" covers album. Astbury does "Touch Me" with the Doors and "Wild Child" with The Cult. It impressed the shit out of me....Comment

Yep. This is a band I can always come back to. Morrison became my idol when I was a young teen, around the time the film came out.
I used to go back and forth on favorites...but I think my favorite for a while now and probably for all-time is L.A. WOMAN. It's a funky, moody, scary and sad swan song for Jimbo...with some of his best lyrics...
Windows started tremblin'
With a sonic boom
Windows started tremblin'
With a sonic boom, boom
A cold girl'll kill you
In a darkened room
Indeed, Jimbo. Indeed. Fookin' grate.
Another great track off this album is HYACINTH HOUSE...basically Morrison self-realizing the legend of a young symbol of beauty struck down and sacrificed. The man knew his fate...I have no doubt about it.
What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?
What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?
To please the lions this day
I need a brand new friend who doesn't bother me
I need a brand new friend who doesn't trouble me
I need someone, yeah, who doesn't need me
I see the bathroom is clear
I think that somebody's near
I'm sure that someone is following me, oh yeah
Why did you throw the Jack of Hearts away?
Why did you throw the Jack of Hearts away?
It was the only card in the deck that I had left to play
And I'll say it again, I need a brand new friend
And I'll say it again, I need a brand new friend
And I'll say it again, I need a brand new friend, the end
By the way, good call on YES, THE RIVER KNOWS, Golden Awe. That's an amazing track...one of Krieger's best songs. There is some very adventurous and moody stuff on the WAITING FOR THE SUN album. LOVE STREET is another stand-out.Roth Army Militia
