Here in NYC smoking has been banned in all public places for a couple of years now. I BARELY remember the pleasure of sitting back wiht a drink and being able to smoke right there.

(on the other hand, it has made picking up girls a little easier. If oyu're just walking by a bar and you see a young one and she's very evidently drunk, it takes a bare minumum of chatting her up - remember, you're outside, so even buying her a drink is eliminated (sometimes the opening line to her is, "Hey, can I bum a smoke?") -and you're in.
