Title: Heavy Metal Drummer
I still miss those heavy metal bands
She used to go see on the landing in the summer
She fell in love with a drummer
She fell in love with the drummer
She fell in love
Shiny shiny pants and bleach blonde hair
A double kick drum by the river in the summer
She fell in love with a drummer
Another & another
She fell in love
I miss the innocence I've known
Playing KISS covers
Beautiful & stoned
Unlock my body and move myself to dance
In long liquid flowing blowing glass
Classical music blasting
That's still ringing in my ears
I still miss those heavy metal bands
She used to go see on the landing in the summer
She fell in love with a drummer
She fell in love with the drummer
She fell in love
I miss the innocence I've known
Playing KISS covers
Beautiful & stoned

Another rainy morning mingling at the market
Bartering for food for another day
Rifle shots ring out behind the crumbling buildings
Executions have begun
Sprawled in the square are today's broken bodies
Lots to pick clean if you're first and quick
Rift through their pockets, peel off their clothes
To wear or sell when you wash out the blood
Run my little brother
Run to the chicken farm
Opportunity is calling
You might even find a watch
We're going down
To the chicken farm
Napalm rains no more
But the war goes on
Little brother died playing at the dump today
He found a new toy and held it up proud
Then it blew him to bits
How many more children
Will be killed or die at birth
Deformed by agent orange
In our food chain forever more
We're going down
To the chicken farm
This time we'll buy our way out
I've got a plan; you wait and see
I smuggled you this map
In the gash i sliced in my thigh
I hope i'm there to join you, love
We're blown to bits one by one in this camp
We crawl shaking through the fields at gunpoint all day
To defuse leftover landmines¡ºby hand
We shiver on the deck and stiffen for the worst
If the pirates come around we might as well be dead
We'll be thrown in the sea
Or butchered if we're women
All in the name of gold
One foot in a land we can barely understand
Can't speak the tongue of yankee hospitality
Our kids at school get beat up
To the tune of "boat people, go home"
Sliced with a machete
From the breast of our homeland
Our new world tries to spit us out
But it sure beats the chicken farm
Dropped acid, Blue Oyster Cult concert, fourteen years old,
And I thought them lasers were a spider chasing me.
On my way home, got pulled over in Rogersville Alabama, with a half-ounce of weed and a case of Sterling Big Mouth.
My buddy Gene was driving, he just barely turned sixteen.
And I'd like to say, "I'm sorry", but we lived to tell about it
And we lived to do a whole lot more crazy, stupid, shit.
And I never saw Lynyrd Skynyrd but I sure saw Molly Hatchet
With 38 Special and the Johnny Van Zant Band.
One night when I was seventeen, I drank a fifth of vodka, on an empty stomach, then drove over to a friend's house. And I backed my car between his parent's Cadillac's without a scratch.
Then crawled to the back door and slithered threw the key hole, and sneaked up the stares
And puked in the toilet.
I passed out and nearly drowned but his sister, DD, pulled me out.
And I never saw Lynyrd Skynyrd but I sure saw Molly Hatchet
And the band that I was in played "The Boy's are Back in Town".
Skynyrd was set to play Huntsville, Alabama, in the spring of 77, I had a ticket but it got cancelled.
So, the show, it was rescheduled for the "Street Survivors Tour".
And the rest, as they say, is history.
So I never saw Lynyrd Skynyrd but I sure saw Ozzy Osbourne with Randy Rhoads in 82
Right before that plane crash.
And I never saw Lynyrd Skynyrd but I sure saw AC/DC
With Bon Scott singing, "Let There Be Rock Tour".

How 'bout a lil Main Street Moan?
Went to this carnival, three years ago.
No big deal, ferris wheel, the same ole' stuff you know.
There was a man outside with a speech outside a tent,
And he said it to me, and this is how it went.
Folks, you know she walks, she talks,
She crawls on her belly like a reptile.
Same ole' line except one part,
You don't need no money, boy, you pay with your heart
Oh Sharon, what do you do to these men?
You know the same rowdy crowd that was here last night is back again.
Wandered around, and looked around for a seat.
The light went low, and the band played a beat.
Out came this girl, wearing a scarf and sleeves
Did a little dance that made me weak in the knees.
That girl, she danced like her back had no bone.
The band played a tune called the Main Street Moan.
She smiled a smile the whole world could see.
She turned around, and she looked right at me.
I must have jumped six feet in the air,
And when I came down, that girl wasn't there.
Oh Sharon, what do you do to these men?
You know the same rowdy crowd that was here last night is back again.
Out came this guy with a big ole' beard,
And furry arms, man he looked like a bear.
He said that all there is, there's no more to the show
If you wanna breathe right, I think you better go.
I didn't think twice, headed straight for the door,
And when I left, I heard that big bear roar
Oh Sharon, what do you do to these men?
You know the same rowdy crowd that was here last night is back again.
Every time that carnival came, I was right there.
Lord, I learned to stay away from that mean ole' bear.
Just like the man said from his speech at the start,
When that carnival left town it took a piece of my heart.
I still get this funny feeling way down in my bones,
Whenever I hear a band play the Main Street Moan.
love that tune...actually called "Sharon"....but I call it the Main Street Moan
