Cowboy Chaps over Jeans

Could the ingenious DLR fashion of wearing cowboy chaps over jeans work in the real world? Could it become a big thing? Or if anyone had the balls to wear it (especially the cow spot pattern in ALAE) would they be able to with stand the ridicule?

I know, if one man with a pair of balls decided to don the chaps over his cleanest dirty jeans it would set off a trend.
