The Mormon church is actually built apon what is being discussed in this thread. The founder of the church Joseph Smith claimed he was confused about religion and the contradictions in the bible and when to pray about the matter. He then saw God the Father and Jesus Christ who told him all religion is a product of man and the ancient church of Jesus Christ no longer existed. Joseph then claimed to have been visited by an angel who instructed him where some gold plates were buried. The Plates contain a record of ancient Americans and Jesus visiting them after his crucifixtion.

The translated record of these gold plates is the Book of Mormon. The Mormons believe this solves the bible problem because the Book of Mormon was translated off the original record by the power of God. Mark Twain once read the Book of Mormon and called it chloriform in print. LOL!

All I can say is it never stops. You can spin religion anyway you like. If a religion lasts long enough, it too has it's own spin offs; usually, the leader is a power hungry individual trying to tap into peoples core religiouse values. Brigham Young successfully branched off of the church Joseph Smith set up. Fundamentalist polygamouse zelots have branched off of Brigham Youngs church.

The prodestant churches are spinoffs of Catholosism. I would say Mormonism is a prodestant spinoff because Joseph Smith at one time was a Methodist.

As far a Christinan faiths go, the Mormons have to be the most creative. You can become a God yourself. You can have wifes without number in the next life. Hell, a good muslim only gets 72 wifes. Mormonism has the biggest prize of any religion, you become a God and have a huge pool of beautiful goddesses to fuck.

Why do we see the young guys in the shirt ties on the bicycles selling the Book of Mormon and trying to get as many converts as they can? Because they believe it's part of the journey of getting God like power and lots of pussy. All I can say is at least they aren't flying airplanes into buildings to get theirs.

Religion is a business that sells people a product that is invisible and there is no proof it even exists. Religion is some wierd shit. LOL!

Hahahah that's the funny bit as ever with religion.

This cunt who was a convicted fraudster is wandering about in a field ALONE one day in 1827(these things always seem to happen when people are alone for some reason) and the hand of the lord comes down and gives him a bunch of gold plates engraved in Egyptian no less that he takes home.

He spends all night translating them (the fact he doesn't know ancient Egyptian from a hole in his ass is beside the point) and then the next day the gold plates MYSTERIOUSLY fucking disappear. Can you imagine??

The Morman church now has over 9 000 000 members...:D

              LMFAO!!!

              Another fucking con artist....

Though the polygamy bit might be seen by some as a cool deal, I would not want to be charged with servicing multiple women....one is plenty for me. Any more than that and I would be worn out after a few weeks....or else I would be in fantastic physical shape!!!

I would not want to deal with the multiple soap operas tho...

I was raised Mormon. My great granddaddy had four wives and was later jailed for polygammy.

Like all religions, Mormonism has evolved. It used to be a lot more radicle than it is now but it's still a cult.

At least in my family, more and more of us are leaving the church. I've been out of it for 10 years.

Why Joseph Smith and Brigham Young were successful is they both were very clever con men. They engineered the church to where it actually became part of your family structure. After the first generation, your own family and inlaws keep you in line. That's why Mormon weddings are in temples where non members can't go to the wedding and members are only suppossed to marry other members.

It's social engineering more than religion.

David Lee Roth in his book mentioned how much he hated being raised Jewish. I would take being Jewish any day over being Mormon. LOL! I'm now an agnostic. There's no proof of anything so I'm just happy to say "I don't know". When I die, I guess I will get to see what all the fuss was over.

I believe Mormonism was cooked up by Joseph Smith and a guy named Oliver Cowdery. Many people credit The Book of Mormon being the first book that mentioned, Jews migrating to the Americas and forming an ancient civilization here.

In the late 18th century, a book called "View of the Hebrews" was published that also hit apon the concept of some of the lost tribes of Isarel migrating to the American continent.

In my oppinion, Oliver Cowdery read "View of the Hebrews" because it was available in the Manchester, New York public library not far from where Joseph Smith was currently living. The Book of Mormon is nothing more than a poor plagerism of the old and new Testament with some new stuff thrown in.

Before he started the Mormon church. Smith was into all sorts of money making schemes like looking for buried Spanish treasure, selling ginsing (He was way ahead of his time on this one), and other "get rich quick schemes".

Smith lived close to the newly finished Erie Canal that was bringing gulliable new immigrants from Europe in. If you look at who was joining the Mormon church it was people right off the boat. People who believed they had landed in the land of promise and completely gulliable.

Smith seemed to be PT Barnam character. He even bought some mummies from a Chicago freak show and claimed one of the mummies was Abraham. Smith made an elaborate translation of the papyrus that came with the mummies and called it the "Book of Abraham". The Book of Abraham is still considered scripture by the Mormons and explains in detail what the next life is like.

The papyrus later surfaced in the late 1960's in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. It was still glued to the Nauvoo, Illinois map and still had the pencil markings Joseph originally made. Ancient Egytian could not be translated in Joseph Smith's time, but now it can because of further arciological discovery and increased knowlege of the Rossetta Stone. Experts now agree the Joseph Smith papyrus is nothing more than a run of the mill funeral text. Nothing special and Joseph got it wrong. The Mormons bought the papyrus shortly after it was found and have kept it hidden in the church arcives. The internet now has blown open much of what the church has hidden over the years and also the History Channel and PBS have done documentaries on the Mountain Meadows Massacre in Utah. The largest religiouse act of terrorism in the US since Sept. 11.

New evidence comming forward niether paint Joseph Smith or Brigham Young in favorable light. Smith was a charming con artist. Brigham Young was a smart tyrant who built his own theocracy in the wild west. Mountain Meadows is one example of the attrocities, Brigham Youngs followers were capable of commiting.

Mormonism like most man made religion, is about power. Nothing more and nothing less. It's just another chapter in the wierd history book of organized religion.

Having multiple wives would only remind me I have only one dick and only so much cum. Maybe when you become a God you can multiply yourself and have sex with millions of women at the same time and feel it all. All this is going on while I'm the Voodoo Child cutting down mountains with the edge of my hand and raising a little sand. LOL!
