Well I had seen a preview of The Island a couple of months ago.....looked pretty interesting....Sean Bean, Ewen McRegor, Scarlett Johansen, Djimon Hounsou, and Michael Clarke Duncan.
Scarlett looks like she overdosed on colagen shots in her lips....if they were any more puffy they would blow up....
Oh well.
I give this movie 3 out of 4 stars. Only because it did not kick my ass enough to be worth 4. HOWEVER, it is VERY much worth seeing.
Combine Logan's Run, Blade Runner, and The Matrix, and THX-1138 and you will have some kind of approximation of the films basic idea. Though the movie is fairly unique in the overall screenplay.
Buncha people live in an indoor utopia. Every now and then a lottery is held, and the lucky winner gets to go live on "The Island", a beautiful island paradise....
They are all living there because some years before, some kind of disease or radiation or something contaminated the outside world, and they live there for their own protection...so they cannot be contaminated.
But (of course) things are not always as they seem.
This movie is very well made, with lotsa interesting visuals and great pacing...enough so that it keeps you attention very well, and leaves one constantly wondering "What in the fuck is going to happen next?".

And here are some hi-res stills...
