HOWARD STERN TO BE CENSORED? "%#%%%##%&!" he says
Brad Kava, 02:23 PM in Brad Kava, Radio

Rupert Murdoch's Fox News, and it's print arm, the New York Post, reported Monday that SiriusStewarts Satellite was considering policies to censor its biggest draw, Howard Stern.

"That's &*^%$$^&**((" said Stern, during his show on the pay network. "There's nothing in my contract that says that."

It sounds like more of Murdoch's fare of unbalanced reporting, based on Stern's responses, or another stunt to keep the deejay in the news. He was on page one of the New York Post Monday.

He alleged on his show that Fox and friends were drumming up a false story to stir up the Christian right and to build outrage for a service that is as Constitutionally protected as porn movies in hotels, cable television or Playboy magazine.

"If I went into the flower business, they'd be doing investigations of flowers," he said.

The Post also reported that Stern's show was on tape delay, and has been censored, something Stern admitted. He pulled the plug on comments by one of his cast, that he feared could be slanderous, or an invasion of privacy.

Based on Monday's show, and a profane four-letter comment by Alexis Stewart, daughter of Martha, that has become the show's first new soundclip, there was no sign of censorship for language.

Eventually, sat radio is going to get regulated. Again, I have to pull up the cable television reference - as soon as it was a hit with consumers, it got regulated and turned into (for all intensive purposes) regular television, commercials and all, with the addition of softcore porn. The movie channels quit playing movies 24/7, the music channels quit playing music videos...

I'm amazed that Howard has totally been thick-headed to the notion that eventually sat radio would become regulated as well, and probably just as soon as he brought over an actual AUDIENCE with him.

Even if this IS just piss and vinegar to keep his name in the news, I've little doubt that somebody out there's looking for a way to regulate it and will succeed, sooner or later...

Brian Kilmeade on Fox and Friends tried to stir up controversy over the Stones' song Sweet Neo-Con as anti-American and tried to get them thrown off the Super Bowl halftime. It died a quick death after they realized they couldn't get anyone else to care. Same will happen here in a few days.

He could quit tomorrow and he would not be hurting...

In order to regulate Sat radio, you will have to change the constitution. You CANNOT regulate a service that people pay for and choose to bring into thier homes.

Although I'm sure that somehow these republican, religious zealots running things these days, will bow to the Clear Channels and Rupert Murdocks and Sinclair Broadcastings of the USA, (who donate money to the Senators like that putz Stevens from Alaska, in order to have the government push their agendas). Then the gov will put pressure on Sirius with all kinds of other regulations to try and make them capitulate without changing the constitution.

Actually, the FCC has used some sleazy tactics of their own, such as setting conditions on, and thus holding up, the sale of ADELPHIA to COMCAST; such as COMCAST must begin restricting certain "adult" channels (like HBO ) to various packages, because I suppose parents can't.

It already happened with cable television twenty years ago. At least it did twenty years back with my cable provider...they just changed the names and the programming and all of a sudden it was just like regular TV.

                                Ah ok now I understand.

Well Howard talked about it this morning, said it was completely untrue, he has never been censored by Sirius. Apparently that crazy idiot Chaunce Hayden went on Fox News and said he was. Chaunce was this half-assed loser journalist who used to do Howard's show, but fans hated the guy so much he just went away. Apparenrtly there was also some other kind of fallout too. Stern says he has absolutely no knowledge or contact with him or anyone on his staff, so he basically just made it up.

Oh and his show is on 6-second tape delay because of his request, not Sirius'.

That clear it up? Basically the story is there is no story.
