Did anyone else realize who that was? I had a hunch, but couldn't believe it, so I checked the credits. Sure as hell, it was Stephen Root. Yup, the same guy from News Radio (with the late Phil Hartman) and Office Space, as Milton. I shit you not.

I'll be damned. I thought the dude looked familiar, but I would never have known it was him without the glasses. Or if he had some odd obsession with a CTU red stapler.

If they DO decide to pull the plug on the show this year, probably the best thing they could do is put Bauer in charge of CTU, because its obvious that Hastings is fucking clueless as to what's going on in his own agency. Bill Buchanan would have never put up with this shit.
I'm too lazy to check, but hasn't there been a mole in CTU every friggin' season of 24?

All the more reason to put Jack in charge. And if you were suspected of being a mole, he'd send Renee Walker over to chop off one of your arms.

I'd love to be a mole on Renee's thigh.

I'd appreciate a happy ending... but that's enough about me.

I had a feeling the show was in trouble. Only a few weeks ago, Compost...err, Comcast In Demand service was offering this season's shows as reruns, viewable at any time 24/7. FOX is pretty stingy with allowing the cable company from re-airing it's shows, preferring to make people view them at it's own official web site, where it can make the audience see whatever sponsors they have lined up (who in turn pay for the commercials) during the viewing. This was highly unusual, as the show was rarely (if ever) offered via cable in past seasons, and pointed out a sense of urgency on the part of FOX for the show to be seen in hopes of reviving it's stale ratings.

The problem that was largely overlooked being quite obvious: The show had run it's course, and was starting to not only get predictable, it was repeating itself again and again. The fact that the plot line was a snooze-fest right out of the gate sure didn't help matters, either.

OK, so now a movie is in the works. The time constrictions and absurd logistics of doing a show supposedly set in real time over 17 episodes per season was one thing. Maintaining that same tension and depth over roughly 2 hours in a theatrical release is quite another without turning into parody. I mean, that ticking clock works good for tv, but you get the impression people will be comparing their watches to it in a theater, ya know? Or worse yet, breaking out their cell phones to call a friend to say "Well, the movie's over in 15 minutes, what's up?"

Was there a mole the year that Gaelle was the fake mole? I think it was season 2 or three...when he died when the shit blew in his face...after pretending to work for the heroin dealers?

I think that was the season with Chase...christ...

Crap. Last night's episode served as a perfect illustration of how far this show has dropped. After watching all season as Jack bounced around being a noble, loyal and boring Captain America for the U.S. government, when he finally snaps and takes matters into his own hands, what is one of the first things he does? Yup, he beats the crap out of...a woman. Hopefully things will improve, now that his vendetta is personal.

I dunno, man...I've been patiently waiting all season for Bauer to flip his lid and kick some ass. I just wasn't expecting that. But I agree, the show does look promising at this point.

Me, too...I was wondering when it was going to get rolling. But how do you top all the shit in the past? He goes off totally rogue and ignores the president. That's hard core. I can't believe there's 6 hours left. Some crazy shit is going to happen, and you know Logan is toast.
