damn. I've had mine on the tender, it's been over 105 degrees for weeks. the other guy at work that rides has had his scoot down for a while and teased me how nice the a/c in the truck is on the way home from work...I've started to buckle.Another one of those classic genius posts, sure to generate responses. Never owned a pre Evo motored HD but I had a couple of them leaking oil in my garage for a few years. One of my brothers had a 79 shovelhead and the other one had an ironhead sporty collecting dust for years. They used to ride them for short periods between rebuilds but they were both so unreliable they would never ride too far from home. I can remember shoving both bikes into pick up trucks or vans numerous times to get them home after they vibrated apart. Then they both got brand new Sportsters and just let them old bikes rot until I made them get them out of my garage because I sold my house. Otherwise they'd still be in my garage.Beware of DogComment

HD 07 883 issues
I don't really like posting problems I like to find and solutions of the instigation of my troubles, as to work thru all of the A,B,C...and post a completed issue so as to not use this thread as a... hey man how come my bike won't start, any answeres welcome,... hey what color is my car... take a guuess.....
I still haven't riden this year 6 months in...here, how it go.
I had a bad battery..let it sit thru the winter can't ride in the snow anyway.
4 months go by..March arrives/. I get a new battery...100$...the terminal posts are inset so I need two brass spacers for the battery as opposed to buying a Harley OEM..(?) battery.
It runs to the ground dead after about 5 min riding around...there is a lot of electrical on these new bikes...give me back the days when I could turn my headlight off myself and kick start it and ride forever ..at least untill night...lol.
So I test again, tes again, and I am getting 12V out of the electrical system not the needed 14V.
So I spend days reading about Rectifier Stator issues all over the net and determine my first step is a new recitfier....3 months go by..making money busy working...still feel the need to do it all myself cause I am a cunt like that.
June ending and the rectifyer arrived yeasterday...bitch to istall have no idea why HD hasn't offset the mounting bracket to alleviate turned harsh wires etc...got it done.
Charged new battery bought a couple months ago...been periodically trickle charging it to keep it well.....won't run any better. Damn poop and poo..
Getting these reading on my diagnostic.read out before the rectifier replacement.
P...po562.....=low voltage. (yeah duh)
S...pn68920...= the turn signal moduel upgrade I installed last year ( i guess this shows for what reason I don't know seems to work fine )
SP..pn67037-04A...- speedometer ( engine light on I suspect)
E= norSP
Getting these now
P=p0374...crank position sensor.( icheck the connection but haven't inspected the case plug itself)
--p0562..low voltage (yeah more duh huh?)
==PN3142-07...(ECM part number shows) I need to research this new code..quick look sais running on one cylyder or ECM fuse or ECM Computer...both cylynders get hot when I run it.
S= 6112-07

I am not confused again but this is bullshit.
I am going to fix this even if I need to rely on my HD maint contract and a tow to the shop...I just want so hard to fix it all by myself .(cause I am a cunt like that).

I assumed the rectifier was bad due to some old school things on other bikes I have had ...I was also aware of a possible Stator issues on these bikes, some recal on the net issue...that will cost me if so...working my way towards a answer.
I am not going to tear into the motor and replace the stator. Shop work for that ain't in my book right now.
I am charging the battery over night gonna try one more time in the morning without the brass spacers and clear the codes check fuel filter ( caus I wanna and I have some other ideas cause I am stupid) and check again I have also found a test for the stator with a multimeter will report back soon.
Will clear the codes and report back.

Ok here how it go...I deep cycle charged the battery 14hrs on my 1amp trickle charger..something I was lacking before..showed 13.9 volts after 1hr it showed 12.46 and stayed there.
I cleaned the air filter and again like last year, how do squirrel get in there and store acorns...but it was in good shape.
I double checked all wiring connects and pull and replaced the ones that I could without straining the connection/.
Performed the ign off rectifyer test and stator test seemed to read as indicated 0 ohms by the internet brains I have read about on diff forums.
Pulled and replaced all fuses..some were kinda dirty..not bad though none blown.
I then installed the batt..and performed a diagnostic reading before starting.
Problem / ... Part # ( I believe these left over from yesterday) gonna find out.

The I cleared all diag and started the bike ran like a top sounded great idled it to 2000 for a min or to to heat up then I turned it off checked the Diag again and it read.
P=none.......Pn32142-07
S= none......Pn68920-07
SP= none.....Pn67037-04A
E= no r SP
So it is charging at 13.30 Volts and ran around the block fine hit all gears and ran all signals and light no Check Engine or Charging system indicator lights durring ride.
I shut it down and checked diagnostic same as last time ..=none...so.
Is it all just running so well because my battery is charged good ..I am going to ride to the car wash blow off the 6 mnths of dirt and see if it can hiyway for 5 min and tool back home.
I just know it is all to good to be true ..so if you see my standing there pull over I will need a jump to get back home..report back later.
Edit:::: if it shows bad things after ride.. I will try the engine running stator tests and perhaps cry little tears and send it to the shop ...fingers crossed..X

Ok, here how it go took along a cell phone (emerg back up) and headed to the gas station 3 blocks away, to top off with premium..old gas in tank needs a boost.
No issues ran like new got alot of looks with the side plates off and grass growing in dirt on the wheels ( made that up) ..lol. Dusty Dusty e everywhere..just sad.
Started fine at the gas station made it to the car wash 2 Bucks in the thing and hit it with the soap finished with DI water..even sprayd my fuses and electrical lightly to see if that is a issue,( never power in the car wash wand into your gages or electric, I know that,.but I wanted to see). toweled the seat grips and pegs started right up headed towards the highway about a mile away thru traffic..
Hit it pretty hard on the entrance ramp crossed 5 lanes, it was clear and hit 90 about in a 1/4 mile ran like a top put my feets on the highway pegs and grooved for a 3 miles got off went home everything is fine and dandy.
No Engine check lights, no Sputter, no Electric warning light...YEAH!!!
I do believe we are rolling..gonna check battery and voltage in the morning.... after ride it was cranking 13.40 volts.
I think I am cool.
