    Fallon On Hard Times

It's been several weeks now and although I'm not a fan of TV - much less late night TV - Jimmy Fallon has to be, hands down the most deplorable shit I've ever seen (yes, even topping 'Survivor' or that vanity exploitation filth 'America's Next Top Model Douchebag').

Not to compare him with Conan (who I dearly miss) Fallon's show is more painful to watch than a loved family member dying of cancer. His whole scatterbrained monologue delivery stands like a third grade show and tell. Hey Jimmy, laughing at you own jokes or replying to your audience with a "wha...wha...what..?" at the end of every one you say makes you look more professionally inept.

"I'm more John Lennon than you - so says myself"

There's just no substance to be found here: nothing funny, mildly entertaining or interesting. The writing alone on his show comes of as they pulled it straight out of the ass of a 1001 Jokes to Make You The Life Of The Party" one could find at Borders for $9.99. Even when he interviews some hack actor Fallon comes off as not even being in the same room with them. Mystery to me why NBC gave him his own show when SNL never bothered to renew his contract. Even on the off days when Conan sucked he still had respect for himself at the end of the night but you Jimmy, you come off like a lost lemming looking for the nearest cliff to jump off of but never finding your mark.

If your dismal show last another two weeks much less into the summertime when Conan returns I for one will be highly surprised. Anything NBC has produced over the past 6 to 10 years has been absolutely shit but I never thought they could go any lower until I saw your show, Jimmy. Best to save what's left of your career now and quit. Please! If not for the sake of Conan's audience then for late night TV in general.

Wow, How do you really feel about it
I watched the clips here at the Army of his first night, meh. I watched a few shows on SNL with him and Tina Fey but never was that impressed. He might get his legs and get better. Really, Late night TV talk shows are fucking boring now, same tired format. Dave is still worth watching every now and then. Jay I never really liked. Conan was good but haven't watch him for awhile, either. For me it depends on who the guest is or musical guest is. If I watch late night now it's more Jon Stewart than the other guys.

These new late show hosts need to watch some of the old Carson stuff and take note. Carson shut up and let the guest talk. Interjected himself when needed. Most importantly, Johnny Carson knew his job was to make his guests look good. It was about the guests and not the egoed ass of the host.

Amen, and well said. One of the funniest things I've ever seen, Jonathan Winters with some warm Christmas memories, from the Johnny Carson Show.

I never have thought Jimmy Fallon was even remotely funny, so when I heard that NBC was replacing Conan with him as the Late Night host, I was like WTF? I watched the show last week just out of curiousity, knowing it was going to suck, and that was the worst monologue I have ever seen! The jokes were horrible, and Book TV on C-Span is more exciting than Fallon's show is!

Well, Conan was pretty horrible for his first three years. But he was so bad, it was oddly entertaining watching him bomb with the awestruck look of a fawn about to be plowed under by a tractor-trailer at midnight...

I haven't watched Fallon yet, but I'll have to see this train-wreck....

I still remember the Chevy Chase show - now that was horrible!

This is NOT like Roth doing radio and needing time to learn the medium & get good at it. This is what Jimmy Fallon supposedly does and is "trained" in. Going from live comedy show to live comedy show is a lot different from rock star to radio host. If Fallon doesn't improve very quickly, shitcan him and get someone watchable. Maybe rotating guest hosts until they find a good fit like they did with Ferguson.

Chevy Chase was a late night genius compared to The Magic Johnson Hour that was the worse thing I have ever seen on TV. I'm not even going to bother wasting space on this site to put up youtube clips.

saw Fallon's monologue last night. he's explaining jokes to the audience, which is never a good sign.
