    Geese On The Wing

I have several routes I can take to get to work. This morning I decided to go the way that takes me to the Ashland City bridge over the Cumberland River.

So I come around the bend that leads up to the bridge, and I could see off to my right a V formation of Canadian Geese flying straight up the river towards the bridge. I could see they were going to fly over the bridge, directly in front of me.

I was going about 50, so I only had seconds to act.

The geese were about 100 feet above the river, but flying over the bridge they were only about 30 feet above my level. Wish I had been a little closer, but I got these two cool photos. Glad I carry my fucking camera everywhere!

We had huge numbers of Canadian honkers on our property last year. I live by the snake river and they came in, spent a few days and continued south. It's amazing to watch them. The first group lands and makes all sorts of noise. More fly in and circle around until they find the ones who already landed. It's amazing how organized they are. I often think animals are smarter than we think they are.
No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!

That'd be South for the winter.

Nice shot off the bridge from behind them.

Yes, they were headed straight North in this shot, lol. Photo taken about 6:30 AM.

Maybe they are tired of it being around 100 degrees every damn day!
