The advantage of not getting completely fucked over by a bunch of waste of skin cunt bankers gambling with other peoples money.

Only downside is if you are trying to export to the US.

yeah, it appears as though we did sail through the recession relatively unscathed..

i have to hand it to the rudd gvmnt for well timed stimulus. things got a bit grim at the end of 09

start 10, but picked up midyear. being self employed, you notice these things.

might be a good time to pick up a couple of guitars off the old ebay.

There is a currency war going on at the moment. The US Dollar has always had the luxury of being the world's oil reserve currency. That means when a country buys oil on the open market, that oil must be purchased in US Dollars and since the world uses oil, it guarentees a demand for dollars. Also, the world historically has bought US treasury bonds due to the politically stable climate of the US.

This has allowed the US to run up huge debts which is currently $4 Trillion and climbing a $1 Trillion a year. Now the Federal Reserve admits openly it's going to continue to flood the world with dollars because it's all they can do. By dropping the value of the money, you lower the multiplier on the debt. This is good for the Federal Reserve but lousy for the average American who's dollar buys less and less. One thing most Americans don't realize is the American people have zero debt. The US Federal Government is actually a corporation called the Corporation of the United States. So the corporation is in debt and also the Federal Reserve is in debt.

What is going on is two corporations are trying to stick citizens with debt they incurred and the average American had nothing to do with.

This problem exists in other countries as well. Countries who are in massive amounts of debt are debasing their currencies and just watch the big banks try and replace the old currencies with a new currency. Of course the Japanese Yen, US Dollar, British Pound Sterling were all once reputable currencies and what happened is central banks hijacked the currency once backed by gold and silver and coasted on the reputation eventually issuing notes backed by nothing. Now the industrialized world is inflating their currency to buy time so the bankers can try and issue new currencies to replace the ones that have been ruined.

Another interesting reality is the US owes China $800 billion dollars. The thing is where did China get the $800 billion to loan the US? The Bank of China printed that money out of thin air. So if we give China real assets to pay off the debt, we are the suckers because their loan in reality cost them nothing. So this whole money thing right now is one big shell game and it's international. Basically, most people's assets are only good as the paper they are printed on and the whole house of cards is starting to fall. Things will get interesting here on out. The old paper system is crumbling and it seems like real assets are coming back.

All I know is that I have contributed to the Australian economy by purchasing three of Ac/Dc's original albums on vinyl and later the "Volume One" box set of all 6 Bon Scott albums on CD.

And I drank a lot of Fosters in the late 80's, before they changed US distributors and the new guys somehow fucked up the taste.

Currency trading will be big short-term because everyone is trying to keep their money safe but the long-term play will be in commodities. Equities will go where they did after the Depression of 29. Right now the world is short on everything, there are no big surpluses of commodities and the food supply is at an all time low. Mining, agriculture, alternative energy, water and every commodity will be the high demand industries for the next couple of decades. Any country that can supply the need will do well. One reason the Chinese are buying up raw resources like crazy. They know that paper money is on it's death bed so they are buying up raw resources and that will be the real wealth and they know it.

In college and thank God the drinking age was 19 then, we drank Fosters in the big ass 24 ounce tin cans. We called them oil drums. Bottles of Mickey's Big Mouth were called hand grenades. So we would get plowed on had grenades and oil drums. I probably have pissed out enough Fosters to fill a swimming pool and yeah, the last Fosters I bought was brewed and canned in Canada and the cool cans are no longer. It's just another beer. Sad.

Just make sure Australians own those raw materials instead of foreigners. If you don't, your raw materials and money will leave the country and you will be ass raped like Africa. Keep the Chinese out of there!

yeah buddy, we've got some fairly stringent federal legislature that guarantees that. a chinese consortium wanted to
bid for our biggest miner (half owned by a british co. though) recently, and were summarily told to go fuck themselves.
