Ya know what really used to be good? Those Boboli ready made pie shells you could get at the supermarket. Sadly, they became too expensive around the time the quality (and the size) began to shrink. I used to use Frank Sinatra's pasta sauce when it was still on the market, and a variety of cheeses and toppings. It was terrific stuff, and saved you the steps of making the dough and getting flour all over the kitchen.

I used to use Boboli, too but.......once I started staying away from white flour it was cheaper and easy to make my own dough. I like to mix my spices right into the dough and fresh garlic baked into the dough gives a better flavor, IMO.

Never knew Old Blue Eyes had a sauce line out there......

I don't know what it is, ace. It seems that just about every time I discover a food product I'm really pleased with, it either gets taken off of the market or comes out in a "new, improved" version that is anything but and generally neither.

It was outstanding stuff, but unfortunately it went off the market shortly after he passed away in 1998.

Apparently his heirs didn't plan for his absence like Paul Newman's kids did. "Newman's Own" brand is still going strong.

The thing that was and still is amazing about the Newman's Own set up is that after taxes, all of the money goes to charity. As of now, the company has given away over 300 million dollars since it was created in the early eighties.

8 track tapes sucked as a means of sound reproduction, but occasionally there were some 8 track only gems out there, like this extended mix of the Rolling Stones "Beast of Burden" which was neither on the vinyl album or cassette, nor any subsequent CD releases, even though the 80 minute CD format would have left plenty of room for it.

There was also an alternative mix of "Miss You" on the 8 track tape, about a minute longer than the album version. It also was never heard again after 8 tracks went extinct.

They make my favorite Italian dressing. Since the stuff came out years & years ago, I can't imagine my fridge without his face staring back at me from the door cubby. It's become one of those staples like Frenchs Mustard. I feel old seeing how long it's been around cause I remember when it was new and my mom thought it was a joke at the grocery store.
