Coast to Coast: Overture and Beginners is a strange album, dude. There are only 3 Faces tunes on it, as all the rest are covers or come from Stewart's solo career. Ronnie Lane is absent, as he quit the year before and the band was soon to fall apart completely when Stewart went solo full time and Ron Wood joined the Stones. Even so, it really is a fun album, and the tracks are sloppily brilliant. This is a very difficult album to find in the complete version that includes the Temptations song, yet even without that tune, it's a terrific (if strange) collection.

It's just a really odd collection of songs, consisting of Hendrix, Lennon, Motown and Etta James covers. The liner notes claim the album was produced "out of a hat" which could mean either a joke or that they pulled song titles out of a derby and put the album together based upon the results. And when you see the final track listing, you tend to side with the latter interpretation.
