Cheech's Love Machine Impala has to be one of my all time favorite movie cars.

Did some googling.



Rumour mill says a couple of things:

1. Cheech owned that car when the film was made, and the quarter windows on the side said "La Bamba", and the movie peeps wanted to scrape the decals off and put new ones on so it said "Love Machine", but he refused to allow it and forced them to change out the entire window to shoot the scenes, and after shooting put the original back in.

2. Oft-repeated rumour is that Jack Nicholson owns the car, though a lot of posts I saw about it were from around 2005-2007. Nobody has actually stepped up and definitively stated knowledge of where it is now, what happened to it, who really owns it, etc.
