Dave didn't write these...
and for sure did not write THESE:
She put the cream in my coffee (first thing in the morning)
Spread hot butter on my biscuit (honeydew my melon)
Like them cherries on bananas (gonna need a second helping)
Thats why I'm up for breakfast so early in the morning
Got bacon on the table (first thing in the morning)
Squeeze some honey on my biscuit (honeydew my melon)
Spread some cream on my bananas (I need a second helping)
You know I'm up for breakfast so early in the mornin'Comment

And to think I always figured the Cherone debacle to be Van Halen's low point. Sure makes you appreciate the fact that as a fan of the band, these are good times... aww... you know.My karma just ran over your dogma.Comment

Chickenfoot just doesn't generate near the level of interest that Roth being back in Van Halen does.
Hagar has a problem with that, but then he's always had a problem with Roth, what Roth brought to Van Halen and the idea of people making comparisons between Classic Van Halen and Van Hagar...like, heaven forbid more people actually liked Classic Van Halen. That's why Hagar jumped on the anti-Roth media barrage along with the Van Halens in 1985. Whereas the Van Halens and Roth were crucial elements in building up the band name Van Halen, and, from that perspective, had earned the right to bitch about one another...what the fuck had Hagar ever contributed?
Hagar got the lead singer slot after Roth quit. And Hagar wasn't even the first choice for replacing Roth. Hagar joined a band that was intent on keeping a band name that Hagar had nothing to do with making popular. So, Hagar inherited a certain degree of Van Hagar's initial success directly due to the work that David Lee Roth had put into the band. Once that initial success period waned, each subsequent Van Hagar album sold less than the one that came before it.
All the factual data and general public sentiment formulate an opinion that Hagar can't come to terms with: David Lee Roth is, by far, the best lead singer/frontman Van Halen have had in the band. Instead of being content with his own level of success, Hagar has to continually lie about his own accomplishments in terms of units sold, concert sizes played to, etc. It's pretty embarrassing to witness year after year, when just the reality of Hagar's life would be enough for most people. A bit sad.
I mean, so what if Roth is just plain better than Hagar?Scramby eggs and bacon.Comment

In a perfect world you'd write for Rolling Stone and some of these others that don't get it, and need to compare new VH to (unmentional band) because someone who gets interviewed every other week told them to.Comment
