Actually a deep subject if you were to take a dive...

If measured monetarily... as in making a career living out of being a musician... then about 98% of those who picked up an instrument are failed musicians. But then short term if you played a gig and earned enough to pay your bar tab and enough gas to get home... that's a fairly successful measure in it's self.

I've met and attempted to jam with people who've invested thousands of dollars in big name brand gear... who can't pull off a reasonable rendition of Louie Louie with any soul or feel to it. Can't call them failed musicians... they never quite reached musician to begin with.

I've achieved successful musician status in my measure... I've played on stage and made people smile, laugh, dance, fight, cry, sing, beebob, tap their feet and even fall asleep. Done it in church, weddings, total dive bars, outdoor music festivals, arenas and coliseums... with crowds ranging from 3 drunks to 35,000+ maniacs. It's a real eye-opener to realize the power to move people with music... especially if you can induce a frenzy with a large audience... but even more so just to make 1 person smile and dance.

So there you have it... I still think this interest in Ron Jeremy and his dick is some strange fandom baloney by you dudes...

I had an uncle who was a concert pianist. The biggest Steinway dealer in the US is in Salt Lake City and he was in town for our family reunion. I went with him to the Steinway dealership and he was playing all the pianos trying to find the best one because he was in the market for a new one. They are like guitars, there's the magic one in the lot that just plays and sounds better. So I'm talking to the salesperson and he said most the pianos Steinway sells are just used a props basically. The people who buy them don't even play piano and if they do not very well. These are rich people who have huge living rooms and a grand piano looks great in there. They might hire a professional pianist if they have a social party going at home. The thing is they want the Steinway name. He basically said if these rich pricks didn't buy the pianos for eye candy the company would be out of business and guys like my uncle who really played them couldn't buy one. So failed musicians are important in the whole scheme of the things. They create jobs.
