Mainly because most people are Godless heathens. And it's a cool thing to make fun of those who believe. Invisible Sky Daddy, and the like. Yet they always expect God to fix things. Even though they don't believe. It's the age old argument - we don't want to believe in God but we expect him to run the whole damn planet and everybody in it because if he doesn't then we're gonna blame Him. So every single damn time some moron decides to kill off a bunch of people, everybody can say "hey, if God was real then he wouldn't allow this!"
So believe. Don't believe. Who cares. But don't come knocking on His door when your life is suddenly called short. Don't run around pissing and moaning about how God ain't around when everything goes to crap.American by birth. Southern by the grace of God.

I've got a great story... This is true, it would've been 2002.
It's 10am ish on Sunday morning. I'm lying in bed watching the Simpsons back to back. Hungover and ears ringing from last nights gig. Contemplating walking the 40 steps to the kitchen to rustle up some bacon and eggs. (Yes, I ate pig in those days).
There's a knock at the door. I pick up Eartha, my beautiful black cat, so she doesn't run away when I open the door. So I'm standing there, red eyed, with a strung out tshirt with the devil on it, holding a black cat.
The next bit is one of those cosmic joker type dealios. Right when I opened the door, homer says, 'aww this isn't gonna be about Jesus, is it?' I had the tv up quite loud. They heard it.
Well, when the elderly man and young girl from the Jehovah's witnesses saw me there was 2 audible gasps.
The girl said she liked my cat, because it was black! They never came back, oddly enough..Comment

Unclean animals are spoken of in more places than just Leviticus and all of God's laws have deep meaning and there are reasons to follow them...
Some for the past and some for the present...
In all honesty, I'm doing my best to let the Holy Spirit guide me...
I want what God wants for my life and entering into His covenant is how to line yourself up to His will...following Salvation and Baptism, of course...
I even quit my so called church over these matters and others...
Hahahahah...
