The now circulating time-lapse video of a lake effect snow band in Buffalo. One part of Cheektowaga near the Buffalo International Airport has three inches of snow. Three miles away in Depew, NY, one of my friends has over 50 inches of snow at his house:

It is, but in very narrow areas. I think we got about 48-55 inches here, but it's compacting down now...

Damn you guys got nailed. Watching it on the news reminded me when I got snowed in in Victoria...where they don't own any snow clearing equipment. Brutal.

The worst winter driving I ever experienced was in Seattle for that very reason.

Is there any other U.S. demographic that are complete pussies about the weather than east coasters? Okay, maybe southern Californians. When I was going to school up in Boulder - which, let's face it, is a haven for east coasters - all they did was whine like whipped puppies if even so much as an inch of snow fell.

The worst winter driving I ever experienced was in Seattle for that very reason.

No, the problem with Seattle is there are too many goddamned hills, so the entire city pretty much shuts down when there's any measurable amount of snow and ice. That, and all the transplanted Californians who don't know how to drive in the shit.

Olympia usually fares a little better. There's only a couple of streets that usually get closed up under more extreme weather, and neither is a major traffic corridor. And the goddamn snowplows start rolling here when there's more than an inch of snow on the ground. Which is somewhat annoying when you live on or near a main street and the things are making noise all night long.
