Figure skating is a ratings monster when it comes to the Olympics. I agree that NBC has done their best to fuck it up the best they can from piss poor editing to commercialism overkill. Costas with his stink eye and arrogance mumbling on and on and on in endless cliches about how these games are "pinnacle" to global peace and the human spirit. Al of it thus far has been a dull, abysmal watch.

What I simply don't get is this odd obsession with curling. Seriously, sportswriter Bill Plaschke (who is covering the Olympics in Russia) devoted an entire column about it in syndicated newspapers yesterday.

It's one thing when a handful of bored drunks in a pub cheer on this dubious "sport"- it's quite another when a national viewing audience gets equally caught up in it.
