Yeah, that's what I heard about the song too. Apparently, half of it was recorded during the 1984 sessions (part of this being the original drum track recorded by Eddie) and was then finished with Alex adding a second drum track and Sam adding a vocal part. I actually have it on my Japanese version of the BALANCE CD.
Another interesting trivia note: Sam liked this song so much that he tried to convince the band to cut TAKE ME BACK off of BALANCE and put CROSSING OVER in it's place. Obviously, the band weren't really getting along very well and he was vetoed. Also interesting to note that TAKE ME BACK was not played too often on the BALANCE tour, mainly because Sam was the band member most in charge of putting together a set list.
