Well I don't watch news outlets that obsess over hordes of lettuce pickers. But now that you mention it, oh, you mean like the "caravan" that is coming from South 'Merica like the one that came during the Trump era?

Fox called it the 'invading horde' and 'a full-scale invasion by a hostile force' that just coincidentally appeared around the time of the 2018 election.

The cool thing is that the 'leftest highly organized, very elaborate sophisticated operation' managed to somehow disappear just after the election so maybe this one will too...

Also talking of which, I don't know much about illegal immigration in the US, but looking at the graphs seems to me that it was Obama and Biden that started to get it under control from 2008 onwards when they took over from W and for all his talk Trump has merely kept the numbers around the same as they had.

Covid is just a recent element added to a decades long problem. Definitely not a driving factor at the core of the issue.

Human trafficking and continuous flow of thousands of undocumented people per year crossing our southern border is a very real thing and a problem that keeps getting kicked down the road for decades.

It's not the people's fault for wanting a better life than what they can get at home, but there has to be a reasonable program and controls to enable that migration. Right now it's a dangerous mess run by the cartels and the cost to Americans continues to rise.

It seems possible that improving the places where they live at the moment would stop the excess of migrants from South America and be a lot cheaper for the US. That way you only get the the immigrants who really want to rather than the ones who are being forced to.

The other option to prevent high immigration rates is the current UK approach whereby you destroy your economy so no one wants to come any more.

All of those South/Central American countries have the resources to improve their own economies and quality of life for their citizens. They have the desire... and plenty of good examples of how to do so around the globe and in their own neighboring countries.

They have many options and a simple choice... work hard and make their own countries/lives better or take the lazy road north to cash in on someone else's success.

Frankly, those other countries don't want us to come in and help them... they'll only hate our interference and despise our arrogance that we can tell them how to run their lives.

Nope... enough already. Home improvement is expensive and takes a lot of dedication, work and time investment. They can go remodel their own bathrooms as far as I'm concerned...

This has a lot of information and probably would take 20-30 minutes to read... but if the way the federal government is handling the Covid crisis interests you, at least take a few minutes and read the official record of what's been done and who did it... and the "PLAN" that Biden inherited. The real fucking PLAN... not CNN's fake news.

You've heard of Operation Warp Speed, right? It's not a fictional movie... it's a real US federal government program.

We lived in South America in the mid 70’s. I see the US becoming more and more like the corrupt countries there than they are like we used to be. Basically the military runs things. Maybe that’s where we are headed. A general usually takes over after the political system goes to shit. Everything runs with bribes. Dissidents are disappeared. You watch your P’s and Q’s and exist. Most the country lives in poverty and a few live very well on top. What we achieved in the US is very rare. Most the world is under someone’s thumb and it’s been that way for most of human history.

No sign of any change in federal government involvement at all. Manufacturing, shipping and distribution is all functioning exactly as it was from Operation Warp Speed prior to Biden taking office. One minor change was the FDA approved Moderna to up the doses per vile from 6 - 10.

The only measurable thing I've seen different in the federal program is they expanded pharmacy companies that can distribute the vaccine. CVS/Walgreens wasn't cutting it. They added Walmart and that's showing some improvement, especially in rural areas and long term care facilities... love or hate Walmart they have a huge, successful logistics and distribution network rivaled only by Amazon.

It must vary by state. Went to CVS to pick up a script and there's a sign at the counter saying they don't have any vaccines. Tried scheduling an appointment for my mom, Walgreens has none within 50 miles and neither does one of the local chains. She ended up calling the county 211 number and is going Sunday at a local fire station.
