and it's really busy today. Will be interesting to see if these people who have become first time voters this year go on and continue to vote. The cynic in me says no.

Bush has got the Vietnamese and (some of the) Korean vote around here, from what I can gather. Kerry, on the other hand, has the votes of other ethnic groups like Salvadoreans, Indians, Pakistanis, Iranians, Africans, etc.Originally posted by knuckleboner
no, i hear you.
my area's probably moderate democrat, but the northern virginia polls have had kerry up by 12% (still means the state's going red). but that's much better than gore did in northern virginia.
so i go to vote this morning and damn near every ethnic minority in line's holding a republician sample ballot.
now, we're pretty diverse here, so i in no way expect all of the minorities to vote democratic. but the overwhelming amount of republican sample ballots was definititly a bit unexpected.
My boss said he's going to vote Democratic for the first time in his life; and he's a white male business owner.
Folks haven't spoken much about VA being a swing state, but all the polls have showed the race at a solid 3%. Obviously, history is VERY MUCH against Kerry here - but NO ONE I know that is a Kerry supporter is using the "my vote won't matter" logic. A lot of folks used that last election here.Last edited by steve; 11-02-2004, 02:21 PM.Comment

it's funny, the korean groups are usually democratic in the local elections here.
and, now that you're in arlington, steve, i suspect you're around a few more democratic voters...
but, i hear tell that unlike 2000, fairfax might just go democrat this election. my guess is that virginia still goes red, but it will be closer than anticipated.Comment

That something is that you live in New York Darling. You're innundated with predictions of a close race. Have faith in the voters throughout the country. Bush will lose New York and California for sure. But He's going to sweep the midwest and alot of the coastal states.
Have faith.Comment

The Carolinas, Florida, New Hampshire, and Virginia
Not to mention Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas (for Gulf coast states), and close states like West Virginia, Georgia, Kentucky, etc.
Alaska will go for Bush as well.Comment

Well, probably the Carolinas
Not to mention Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas (for Gulf coast states), and close states like West Virginia, Georgia, Kentucky, etc.
I wouldn't be surprised if at least one of those flipped over to Kerry.
Alaska will go for Bush as well.

Heh heh heh, I know. I threw Alaska in there on a technicality.
However, it appears much of my prediction is in the process of coming true.Comment
