The thing is, although technically Agnostic, I'm a very spiritual person. I was born and raised Christian. I just question hypocrisy wherever I see it.

I refuse to buy ELVIS' notion that ALL people who do not accept Christ are evil, and damned to hell.

I believe people who treat others with dignity, charity, love, respect, kindeness, and show the same qualities to the Eath itself will be judged as a good human, and not cast into some lake of fire.

Guilt, fear, and hatred are not the traits of any God I know

It's what on the inside that matters. The heart. You can be kind on the outside, but if you hate the person's guts on the inside, it means little. Just like giving to the poor with the ultimate goal of making yourself look good out of vanity. Outward appearances and acts matter little to Jesus Christ. He will judge off the heart, and with that in mind, in my opinion, nobody passes the perfect test.

These people you mention as kind, loving, dignified, and respectful also have moments of loathing, hatred, undignified, and unrespectful. No one is perfect, and when Jesus said he's the way to the Father, he meant it.

Count me out. I had a nasty allergic reaction to shellfish a few weeks ago. Which really fucking sucks, because I've eaten it all my life and never had a problem before. And it's been years since I had lobster in any case

ELVIS, what kind of nurse are you? I'm just asking b/c if it Christ's will - as it is believed in Christian Science - that someone is "ready", then they shouldn't be kept alive, and if someoone is "meant" to lose - for example - the use of their arm, then no surgery should take place to fix it.

actually, even better...does the hospital (do you work in a hospital?) where you work perform abortions? what if you were transferred to work for a doctor who does believe in Roe vs Wade, even if s/he himself doesn't perform abortions?

I've been meaning to enquire about this for some time...
