Good analysis. From what I know about the Navy, this would be correct. But that missile IS a bitch! I was thinking more along the lines of a "lucky strike" as was the case during the Falkland's War when the Argentine Air Force fired and Exocet from the opposite direction in which the Royal Navy expected it.

Actually that was part of my point, that the US Navy will have an overwhelming advantage agianst any potential enemy for the forseeable future, IN THE WATER! But the dimention that the Sunburn brings to the table is the ability to force the US Navy to operate farther out fro shore, and thus less effectively, or they may risk losing a capital ship and possibly several thousand sailors.

In any event, China is on the rise. They had a military analyst on NPR talking about how the Chinese are not so much looking for Western weapon systems as they are trying to upgrade their command and control ability using technology.

So you haven't seen the next wave of battleships the Navy has planned?

Think Stealth fighter jet on the water. Speaking of which, the Navy is known for being on the water most of the time!

I've heard a bit about them, also the missile ship that is meant to make up for the lack of the real, big 16" gun toting battleships since they finally mothballed the USS Missouri and USS Iowa.

But those ships are a ways off. The Chinese want to keep our ships out of the China Sea between she and Taiwan.

              They're being tested right now.

              Remember the Los Alamos labs?
