Actually that was part of my point, that the US Navy will have an overwhelming advantage agianst any potential enemy for the forseeable future, IN THE WATER! But the dimention that the Sunburn brings to the table is the ability to force the US Navy to operate farther out fro shore, and thus less effectively, or they may risk losing a capital ship and possibly several thousand sailors.
In any event, China is on the rise. They had a military analyst on NPR talking about how the Chinese are not so much looking for Western weapon systems as they are trying to upgrade their command and control ability using technology.
