Bottom line is because the BCE has been involved in every Republican administration since WWII, the oil industry has far too much influence in Washington DC.

It's not that the technology to build more effecient vehicles doesn't exist. It's that they keep it surpressed because you can't "own" hydrogen and solar power like you do oil wells.

Hybrids are a step in the right direction. Logically, they should be completely outselling the SUV's. But then, the BCE isn't giving anybody a tax write off for a Prius like they are for a gas guzzling Hummer.

That has nothing to do with finding new sources because Iraq's already a member of OPEC and there's known plentiful supplies.


When there's money to be made, you can bet someone will find a way to make affordable luxury hybrids.
