I'd move there right now if the weather wasn't so shitty.

I can't even take one week with clouds and 60s. It's depressing me.

Elvis in Memphis was better than anything the Stones did in the 60's. And that was released in 1968.

          Gentlemen,

As you all may know, I'm a SoCal/San Diego native. Having lived through the worst years of my life in Detroit, I absolutely love Seattle. It's not San Diego, but it'll do after what I've been through. lol

          That is all.

              Don't remind us.

We refer to it as "the dark years"

We're still trying to drink and shoot the memories away....

                West Seattle

                Also known as RAT CITY.

                It's the armpit of Seattle.

For those of you shut ins, it's the place [Alki Beach] where Tom Hanks and his son pull their boat up in the movie Shitless In Seattle.

[ then they proceed to motor their way to lake union LMMFAO]

I stand by those words. You know my taste in music. I'm not one to make rash musical statements.

You've listened to it then, I assume?

Don't get me wrong, Elvis is one of the greatest performers of all times and he paved the way for the rest. His '68 Comeback special when he hit the stage solo in his leather is pure electricity.

But I don't think he ever wrote one song that he sang.

The Stones are unparalled in rock in that manner as far as I'm concerned. They can't all be gems, but they're true.

It sounds like it was recorded by a Wollensack held up to the PA

And who needs to hear "In the Ghetto" Live?

I'm just being flip, War. I have my Elvis soft spots [suspicious minds can make me well up] but just not that enthralled.

I like the blues filtered through 60's snot nosed english punks.

                          true dd.

I actually would love for DLR to somewhat parody that comeback special.

It would be a blast. In the round. Open w/ Ice Cream Man. Tell the middle aged guy in the fron row "shut up tubby, or Im gonna fuck your wife.......er daughter

                              Actually, I love Tortelvis.

                              Dread Zepplin are a riot.

Elvis was a racist prick. But he was responsible for inspiring many if not most of our greatest rock bands.

The Vegas Years should never have happened........

Presley had a few good songs in the '50's, but that's about it. I'll put the Stones catalog up against Elvis anytime. And as DD said, the Stones actually WROTE songs too. Undoubtedly, Elvis made a huge contribution to rock and roll, but his impact was more cultural than musical, and he fucked a lot of that up with the movies. IMO, Elvis is overrated as a rock artist.
