this will be semi-long, so please bear with me...
a bit about me.... I'm in LA, worked in film and tv for over a decade, and am looking at probably shooting my own feature at some point this year. I thought it might be a good idea to try something smaller as a warm-up project, and have decided to do a documentary before I tackle the big project.
What about, I wondered.... something I've noticed, not only here is the amount of conspiracy belief floating around since the turn of the century.... 9/11, Katrina, etc etc.. and thought that might make an interesting topic.
This morning I'm reading the forums on ESPN (of all places) when I run across a thread on 9/11, and the idea of controlled explosions to bring down the towers. Something like that here on this site, I'm used to.. over there, I'm not... which only backs up my thoughts on widespread belief in a simmering conspiracy re: those events....
Do I think Bush or whomever had something to do with 9/11? No.
This is however, the opportunity for those who do think that there was a massive setup on that day to prove me wrong, or "educate" me.
I want to do a film on the mechanics of that morning, and only that morning. Not a political film, but about what happened that day...
what I have so far off the top of my head:
towers:
- controlled explosions bringing down the towers
-building 7 being brought down also with explosives, the idea being that no deb ris from the towers or planes did the building in.
-"the jews" were all told by way of cellphone/pagers to get out of town early
pentagon:
-not a plane that hit the building, but a missile.
-all the film from surrounding stores, gas stations taken, never to be released...
pennsylvania:
-flight 83 (93?) was brought down by a missile strike from a military jet.
so.. what am I missing so far as nontraditional belief goes. relating to those events? Any other "wacky" theories running around out there?
I'm going to try to do this as even handed as possible, by showing the events, then addressing the theories about what "really happened", then go to the "experts" about it, and then a follow-up with the conspiracy theory people.
(excuse the semi -inflammatory descriptions of the camps of thought, just trying to be clear on who believes/says what)
and as a follow-up, has anyone made a film on this, ie: the conspiracies, at least recently? and on this direct topic? I know that theres is quite a handful of films out there on this day, just wondering if any have addressed the theories like this?
any help is appreciated, links would be great....
and an early thanks to Ford, as I'm sure you will chime in on this one. Not calling you a nut, just someone who is very on top of this topic it seems, from the "conspiracy" crowd point of view.
(and PLEASE try to keep politics out of this, inflammatory type stuff, Im trying to do this with out that)
