Left in '84 (actually checked out much earlier). Never looked back. I now joke that I am a 'recovering' Catholic...which has P.O.'d a few in this forum before... I'm not either, in fact i am beginning to think that the TRUE church isn't a building at all...it's our own bodies, as it is referred to as The Temple.
For the only way a congregation cannot be corrupted is if it is personal between the soul and it's creator.
