sorry to break it to you guys, but the author's right; dying didn't make pat tillman a hero.
it just made it easier for the average joe to see it. pat tillman was a hero the moment he decided that he would voluntarily take a job that would put his life at risk in order to save/protect others.
is pat tillman's brother, kevin, any less of a hero because his number hasn't come up yet?
sure, the 346 NYC firefighters who died in the WTC are heros. but so's the firefighter currently sleeping comfortably in his bed in demoines, iowa. he hasn't had to give his life yet. and he might never have to. but the fact that he willingly took a job to save people, where he MIGHT have to give his life is enough to make him a hero.
just like pat tillman.
