      Because the Repukes would hammer him over the original Iran crisis...never mind that at the time the future Reagan administration was doing everything in their power to delay the hostage release until 'til after the election in '80....(yeah, you guy's favorite Prez used the hostages as PAWNS for political gain, remember? )
