The FCC rules are selectively endorsed to put it mildly. I was watching TV the other night and the show had at least a dozen "shits" and "bullshits" within an hour.

Of course it was on the FX channel, owned by Rupert Murdoch. Don't suppose that had anything to do with it?

The problem is, they (tv networks, radio stations) are all gun shy. Especially after the Janet Jackson stripte....malfunction. It's not that they are especially morally against these words or their use, they just don't want to get fined. It's crazy. People who complain that you can't say "nipple" on the radio will immediately go home and call their wife a "fucking bitch".

Right now the standards of decency in america are ass-backwards. You can show a snuff film about the crucifixtion of Jesus, but god forbid if you show some scantily clad women bouncing on a trampelene. And hot couples having consensual sex (be it gay or straight) is morally indecent, yet extreme S&M treatment of Iraqi prisoners is vital to the moral fabric of our nation. It's a pretty fucked up assesment of the direction the United States of America is heading.

Although I find hardcore porn to be demeaning, seeing that it is just a bunch of silicone injected coke-skanks just trying to make a buck, about as bad as films showing actual acts of violence rather than using special effects to simulate it. Softcore is more of my style, better acting, natural looking women and a decent plot. If it is violent, I'll never watch anything involving gore, just a very interesting and original plot.

That being said, I wouldn't put a censor any type of film just because I don't like it. This type of belief is just detrimental to the contitutional integrity of the nation. Yet in this age of fundamentalist religion, institutional indoctrination of the masses trumps over personal freedoms. The last time fundamentalist religion had total control over government, witch burnings due to paranoid fanaticism were commonplace and acceptable.

Sure. My meaning is that the same people who are soooooo offended by language such as that on the radio or television are most likely using obscene language in their everyday life. How many people were shocked when the word "bitch" was first used on tv? It was such a huge deal. Yet in almost any circle of friends, women use the term to describe other women all the time. Men use it to describe women all the time (and sometimes to describe whiny men). It was only a big deal because it was on tv.
