I did the same thing on my mountain bike about eight years ago. And anybody that's a charter member of the Over-The-Bars Club can tell you, no matter how badly you hurt, how badly you skinned your ass up, the first thing you do is jump up and look around, hoping that nobody just saw your stupid ass.

I skidded to a stop in front of a guy washing his Jeep. :D :D

When I was a kid, I went sideways on my bike and skidded half way down the hill, on pavement. And this was the middle of the summer, so I was wearing shorts!

Needless, to say I was considerably more scraped up than the pResident. But, being a kid I was back on the bike the next day.

I've crashed my mountain bike countless times...

Mine was my own fault. I'd replaced the front tube, but didn't tighten down the bolts enough. I had a good head of steam going down a hill, and the wheel started wobbling. Of course, my genius solution was to kick the tire back into alignment with the toe of my sneaker, until I made it to the bottom.

Hilarity ensued. :D

My foot got torqued sideways between the rim and fork, and needless to say, Newton's Third Law Of Motion took on a whole new, ass-backwards meaning. I went from 30 to "FUCK IT!" in about six inches - with the bike now a new part of my lower anatomy. We stayed connected for the whole me-bike-me-bike-me-bike-me barrel roll down the street. The cost of fixing the damned thing was such that I just went out and bought a new one. After I could walk again. :D

bush wasen't on pavement he was actually off road. kerry was on pavement when he wiped out a few weeks ago in concord.

i've never wiped out on a mountain bike. been hit with a few branches that snapped back that i didn't see but no wipe outs.
