What many don't consider is that while, we do often give Child Tax Credits to illegals, what holds true is that these people turn around and use that same money to put it BACK in the economy.

This is just extra income to them, and instead of investing, they use it to purchase durable goods.

While I do see the weaknesses in illegal immigration and law enforcement, most illegals are honest folk seeking employment and a better life.

They make up the millions in the majority with REAL BUYING POWER. And that helps everybody in the end.

Lq, I understand what you're saying, but I think you misunderstood my post about the Child Tax Credit and the rectified system to have them pay taxes for 3 of the 5 years they've been here. I meant that when they file those returns for the 3 of the 5 years, the chances are better that our tax system will owe them money because of the Child tax credit, than the chances are that they will end up paying taxes for those 3 years. The possible write-offs would be more than the taxes they'd owe.

And as far as illegals living here and putting money into the economy..they send more of it back to their home countries than they spend here.

Unfortunately it's the same as it was in elementary school. One rowdy pupil makes the whole class miss recess. It's been this way for years. We make laws and policies based on what the dishonest do as opposed to what the honest do. It's the only way to fully protect the honest.

I get you Elly. Problem is these folk are low income and don't exactly qualify to federal tax payments. Of course, a couple kids goes to their benefit and most likely ups their refund.

I live in an area that comprises of mostly immigrant, legal and illegal. I also do taxes. The majority here are low income and qualify for the EIC and additional CTC. So when that check comes, they're off to the stores for that new dvd player, home stereo or playstation the kid has been wanting.

I can see how further up north though, they might actually be sending money back home. But my intiuition tells me it is used to save up for transporting more family in the States.

Take a look at this site and some of the information it has about how much money is wired out of the country. It's honestly not a small amount nor in short supply.

When you are paid cash for a job, it's easy not to report it to anyone...just stop by the local Western Union, wire it home, nobody asks any questions.

Well, they seem to have a good idea about taxing remittances. LOL!

Like I said, I believe the majority of this money is a turnaround for getting the rest family into the states. I see this alot in my region.
