And like I said, with THOSE laws the way they were, we managed to stop the terrorist who was going to light up the West Coast to celebrate the millenium. Fucking with civil liberties and making border crossing a pain in the ass hasn't made me feel any safer.

Paying $100 for a fucking passport to drive around BC for a week sure as Hell won't either.

Whats the big deal with a passport? Most Canadians already have them anyways, I dont understand the uproar in the states.It a good thing to have when travelling to ANY country. It speeds up "interrogation" time and will help alleviate the long lines. If everyone has to jump through the same hoops to get one, then whats the problem? Ill pay the hundred bucks to renew mine, it speeds up crossing time and hassles. I was actually at the Blaine crosiing an hour ago.Small world.

Yes, most Canadians that travel a lot and everywhere...
I agree, it's a good thing to have and it's internationaly recognized.

But here in this province, there are thousands of families that drive down to the east coast's beaches every summers for their 2 weeks vacation.
They used to be able to just pass through without having to pay an extra $400.00 per family to go spend their vacation money in the States!

During what we call here the "construction holliday" (2 last weeks of July), when a lot of people are off, there have been traffic jams of up to 10 hours on the Canadian side... to enter the U-S!

I can understand the passport if you're flying overseas and crossing oceans and shit. If I was going to go from Seattle to London to Tokyo to Sydney to Paris to Toronto all in one month, it would make sense to dispense with the paperwork. Plus, if my job required that much travel, I'd probably have an expense account, so I could write it off anyway.

But that's a little different than a place I can drive to within 3 hours. Let's say Van HALEN or The Police started their tour in Vancouver and I wanted to see the show there. Why the FUCK should that cost me an extra $100??

Trust me, if they played here, they will DEFINATELY play Seattle. Usually you guys get the good shows and we get passed over......yeah it sucks to fork over the cash, but it is for five years and you still need it for the other countries anyway. Now, if they implement this AND that fuckin border card as well, this is total bullshit and will hurt both countries. I was actually almost refused entry a year ago because I forgot my passport, and it wasnt even a law yet. They can be dicks both ways, although the Canadian ones are worse, why, I dont know.

We get all the dirty fruit pickers out here from there, so our perception of Quebecers is somewhat unrealistic. Im sure most of you shower more than those folks, at least I hope.

I like the idea of Passports. They are $80 for adults and $35 for kids. It will stop the child abductions and heading off to the border for one. It will help make our borders safer for both sides.
We had a case here a few years ago where a 2 kids were abducted at a major shopping center right by my place. By the time the guy was stopped, he was in Fargo ND!!

The security is all window dressing. They are going to strip search grandma at the airport or want to see your passport driving back from Torronto, but the guys who really want to do some shit will still be able to do that unless intelligenc tips the authorities off to them.

Any idiot can smuggle box cutting type weapons on a plane even today. Hell, they make ceramic and hard polymer cutting and stabbing weapons that won't be picked up by a metal detector.

The real security is the passangers on the plane that will stomp your ass if you pull out your Chipolte Tool Company CIA fiberglass reinforced polymer assasination spike. They will stone your to dealth with cans of beer and Coke off the service cart.

Most of the show at the borders does nothing actually. Hell, just say you are hispanic and the country is yours!
