Why should there be a difference in the quality of treatment you get in any hospital, whether you are Bill Gates or a Wal Mart janitor? Are some people more or less "human" because of the contents of their checking account?

I think it will come if the American Public push for Reform. It has to happen, with the way costs go up every year. Less people can afford it which in turn will drive the standard of living down.

There will always be a difference in the quality of treatments... somehow...

There is always better treatments elswhere for people that can afford it but at least, it could be a lot more fair and equal to start with...

People should have a choice between public and private hospitals. I've stated this here before. If you can afford it, then by all means go private. Don't wait in line.
We have a few Private Facilities in Manitoba now.

A few Doctors watched many Manitobans flee down to North Dakota to the Mayo-Clinic there. Why wait for cancer treatment, MRI's, Brain Scans.... So they got wise and decided to cash in!!

You are lucky in Manitoba... here, the P.Q. is fighting against it... they say that the private system will bring down the quality of the public one...???

I am not an economist but I can tell you that they have a lot of arguments to back up their claim!

The very rich do, fly elswhere to get the best treatments possible... they don't wait in line or settle for whoever doctor is available that day.

Or... the very good doctors leave to go practice in the U-S, where they get the big bucks!

It's the wave of the future for Canadian HC. There is too much money to be made by Doctors who have the resources to set up a clinic.
There will be a defined two tier health system before long.
The PC's would be the ones to do it. Stephen Harper might just be the one.

I've never heard a good neocon spin.

It's not ideal, because some people don't have health insurance because they either don't want to pay for it, or they just don't think they need it, like many people under 30.

They never tell you that many of those supposedly 40 million that are uninsured are young people who think they are invincible.

Why should I or anybody else have to pay for somebody's insurance when they can go out and get it and afford it themselves?
