well, that's a fine American viewpoint.

I think it's also selfish if you care at all about the long run.

We can have that stuff and make it cleaner and cheaper.

The majority of people I know are into the environment, we hike, rock climb, cross country ski, hug trees and all that good stuff. We also snowboard using lifts which take power, race moto-cross which is bad, jump out of planes which is also bad, and wakeboard which is bad again. We respect mother nature and try to tread lightly but even though I enjoy sailing more than power boating either way it takes gas and emits emissions to get there.

So what exactly has al gore suggested that would infringe upon that?

No one says you should tow your boat with a cooper mini or not go out and ride motorbikes.

No, but they will demand you pay higher emissions fee's and visit the emissions stations every year instead of every other year. Big Brother will also tell you what kind of car you can and cannot drive. You will have to spend money to have your motorcycle converted to California emissions standards. Oh and the price of a new vehicle will go up about 5 grand or more, which has auto dealerships and consumers going bananas. But hey, its not about paying the fat bloated salaries and 100 percent pensions of our elite politicians, its about saving our environment.

You guys obviously have no sense of humor or concept of irony. My post was referenced on how to actually scale back on this global warming by reducing consumption. And the only remaining society currently doing this are the Amish. Although, I'm sure the reason they might catch a ride on buses is because their horses threw a shoe or caught a cold.

Complete crap! Technology can be used to curtail emissions and to find new sources of energy so we don't have to rely on dirty fossil fuels shilled by dirty, despotic regimes that produce terrorists that "hate us" more for the economic disparities created by such arrangements than for our freedom. Compare an engine made today to one produced in 1968, and you'll see a fraction of the emissions being spewed out of the new VTECs...

This isn't a technology vs. the horse and buggy issue as many like to fraudulently frame it as...

              Hypocrite? We're all hypocrites.

And they do make the best fucking pies on the planet!
Yes, I agree. We're all hypocrites.

But Gore drives a Prius, not a Mercedes (although, Dahlmer-Benz/Chrysler will probably inform that they too offer fuel efficient vehicles)...

Wow, I was actually after a different kind of response with my social experiment. I was curious how many ultraleftist would agree with me about going back to the stone ages. Turns out there weren't any takers on this board. I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

But, you have to agree that consumption is what is leading to all this pollution.

But yes, the same technology that helped caused much of this pollution can also help reduce it.

You're not a lost cause after all, Nick.

Technology would have done much more by now, if oil industry shills hadn't controlled the White House for most of the last 50 years (Carter & Clinton years being the exception)

Yeah, and Penn & Teller are such experts on alternative energy.

Yeah genius, um, do you have any idea how much global warming is going to cost in terms of infrastructure and insurance claims? Once coast lines begin to flood as sea levels rise from melting arctic glaciers? Weather patterns have become increasingly erratic and extreme, like in my home city of Buffalo, which received three feet of wet, heavy snow on Columbus Day (knocking out power and causing million$ to clean up after), virtually no snow throughout December and January --then was hit again in late February with four feet of snow!

It's just a taste of what is to come...

It was snowing here on March 1. No accumulations here to write home about, but other parts of the state got hit a bit harder.

Snow in March is VERY unusual in this state.

And we also got hit early in the season, Thanksgiving weekend which was actually the heaviest snowfall of the winter.

Meanwhile the warmer water is attracting fish and other sea critters here that we don't normally get.

Someone caught a 14 ft. shark in Puget Sound the other day.

Let me say that again... a 14 ft fucking shark, in an INLAND waterway. That's crazy!! But it happenned.

And a couple summers ago, someone caught a Marlin at Westport. That's a warm water fish you're more likely to find swimming down at Hagar's place in Cabo.

And everyone's seen the pictures of the depressed polar bear, sad because his ice shelf hunting ground has considerably shrunk in his lifetime.

This shit's off the hook and the Busheep still choose to remain in denial, because a whore media owned by the same irresponsible corporations who are to blame for the problem continues to LIE about the reality.
