In countries with socialized health care, all pregnant women have access to free prenatal care where a physician monitors the entire pregnancy period.
So I watched "Sicko" tonight.......

However, a big part of the problem is the aging population and retirement. Also, we need to create more residency positions.
In the early '90's, some idiotic politician predicted that we would have a physician surplus, so they cut back on residency positions and reduced first-year medical school openings."Ya know what they say about angels... Usually staffing shortages are a result of depressed wages, in this case caused by the socialized system.
#1, we need to open more residencies to foreign doctors. They pass their Canadian exams okay, but they have to complete a 2-year residency program. In most provinces, they have to compete with the University Grads for a residency position."Ya know what they say about angels... WRONG. We have staffing shortages in many areas in this country - mainly due to the retiring aging population. So much so that we fly in Mexican workers for many labour positions.

If you guys paid more for wages, you'd have enough staff. Or maybe if you're weather wasn't so shitty. But you could pay people to over look that.gnaw on itComment

As for the weather, what some consider shitty, others consider paradise. I LOVE our winters. Used to live on the west coast where there is no snow. Hated it!!! The labour shortage here is huge right now.
Funny thing is I was just in Nevada at a mine equipment supplier and they are having a hard time finding good mechanics that want to work.
They said the mines are having a hard time finding good people too down there...and they make damn fine cash!Comment
