Hey I missed this one. Since Lounge honors me with a post about me I will turn the sarcasm / parody off for my reply.

Actually I am a vegetarian but not a vegan. I also donate a lot of money to local animal shelters and a few international animal rescue organizations. My wife and I have adopted and/or fostered about 8 cats since 1994.

I'm also 100% for gay rights (yes, insert homo joke here) and am surprised by all of the homophobic banter that flies around here, especially from Democrats. I guess it's done because you think I'll recoil at the insult.

While we're at it I'm also 100% Pro Choice (my wife's degree is in Women's Studies - my own degree is Art / Education). I agree 100% with "Death With Dignity". I also strongly disagree with a flag burning ammendment and am in strong opposition to any limits on free speech - either from the left or right.

I am an Agnostic and if anything lean more towards Buddhist thought. I detest "holy-roller-hypocrites".

The scrapes I get into here are mostly about Islamofascism / Foreign Policy and some Socialist policy stuff.

I grew up in a strong Democrat / Union (Teacher's and Meatcutter's) family. I remember voting for Carter in the 4th grade at our school election and telling nasty Ford supporters that Ford was "gonna start a war!" because that is what I was told at home.

My strongest views on politics are centered on foreign policy, defense and Islamofascism. I see the President’s primary role as Commander in Chief and defender / protector of the U.S. Constitution. I don’t see Islamofascism’s biggest threat being the killing of people (though it’s of course a huge problem). The biggest threat of Islamofascism is in the implementation of Sharia and the threat to democracy / freedom of religion-speech primarily in the Western world but of course also in places like southeast Asia.

No, Iraq was not a war to extinguish Islamofascism but it began as a tertiary objective and turned into an opportunity to fight and diminish it.

I vote for “assholes” like Bush, and supported him, because of him fighting Islamofascism. I srongly disagree with a lot of his ideas including things like “intelligent design”, abortion rights and expansion of the U.S. government. As far as things like intelligent design, I see that as a struggle at the local school board level and although I don’t like it and the idea of teaching creationism AT ALL I also believe in local schools having local autonomy regarding curriculum.

I think it’s silly for any person or group to be shy about having a certain belief because some maniac also happened to believe in that particular thing too. It’s like discounting the ideas of a Wahington or Jefferson because they owned slaves or an idea from St. Thomas Aquinas because he also engaged in discussions about how many angels could fit into the head of a pin.

If people don’t care to eat flesh fine. What I don’t like is a group or person who thinks they should DICTATE to others how to live. That’s never going to change anyone’s mind.
