Barry Obamarx Ignores Ice Storm Disaster

In some parts of rural Kentucky, they're getting water the old-fashioned way — with pails from a creek. There's not room for one more sleeping bag on the shelter floor. The creative are flushing their toilets with melted snow.

At least 42 people have died, including 11 in Kentucky, and conditions are worsening in many places days after an ice storm knocked out power to 1.3 million customers from the Plains to the East Coast. About a million people were still without electric Friday, and with no hope that the lights will come back on soon, small communities are frantically struggling to help their residents.

One county put it bluntly: It can't.

"We're asking people to pack a suitcase and head south and find a motel if they have the means, because we can't service everybody in our shelter," said Crittenden County Judge-Executive Fred Brown, who oversees about 9,000 people, many of whom are sleeping in the town's elementary school.

Local officials were growing angry with what they said was a lack of help from the state and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. In Grayson County, about 80 miles southwest of Louisville, Emergency Management Director Randell Smith said the 25 National Guardsmen who have responded have no chain saws to clear fallen trees.

"We've got people out in some areas we haven't even visited yet," Smith said. "We don't even know that they're alive."

Smith said FEMA has been a no-show so far.

"I'm not saying we can't handle it; we'll handle it," Smith said. "But it would have made life a lot easier" if FEMA had reached the county sooner, he said.

FEMA spokeswoman Mary Hudak said some FEMA personnel already are in Kentucky working in the state's emergency operations center and that more will be arriving in coming days. Hudak said FEMA also has shipped to 50 to 100 generators to the state to supply electricity to facilities like hospitals, nursing homes, and water treatment plants.

Swell. We can assume the usual suspects will be piling on with predictable variations on the "Heckuva job, Brownie" and "Barrack Obama doesn't like hillbillies" lines any second now...

"With nearly 1.5 million people in the mid-west without power during a cold snap, what other possible reason is there that this new "competent" administration and FEMA would be failing so spectacularly in helping in this natural disaster?

It's got to be that Obama hates white people and wants them to die!"

      Obama Dozed, People Froze

"Has anyone seen FEMA lately? It seems we have people dying by the dozens in the midwest, where they’ve been freezing to death for a few days. Local officials are calling out the Federal government for its notable lack of response."

      +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
      Remember when Barry said this?
"We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times … and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK.”

      Below from the NewYork Times

"The capital flew into a bit of a tizzy when, on his first full day in the White House, President Obama was photographed in the Oval Office without his suit jacket. There was, however, a logical explanation: Mr. Obama, who hates the cold, had cranked up the thermostat.
“He’s from Hawaii, O.K.?” said Mr. Obama’s senior adviser, David Axelrod, who occupies the small but strategically located office next door to his boss. “He likes it warm. You could grow orchids in there.”

"the Sgt. Schultz Press, who know nothing, see nothing and apparently recall nothing that does not serve to embellish, rather than question or (gasp) critique their godling [Barry]:"

Congratulations on the futile "tit-for-tat" arguments on Obama. But it seems pretty shallow and even bitter and vindictive -maybe even feeble minded. This is the reason you guys have no political credibility left and were douched from power!

BTW, the entire Eastern seaboard lost power during Bush's tenure and no one whined about it as it paled in comparison to the drowning of an American city...and people freeze to death every winter due to utilities shutting off power, homelessness, and whatnot. FEMA can't bring the power back on, only utilities can. My brother also had this problem in New Hampshire. And if anything, Obama is the one that wants to modernize and simplify the severally dated US power grid which would in turn make it easier to bring power back on line - the it's GOP fuckwits that hate infrastructure improvement, not him...

          ...

Nice White Supremacist argument. I'm aware its not his intention necessarily as Dick Moron seems to be another sour grapes pussy attempting a silly, faulty comparison, but it perfectly mirrors the extreme rights paranoia and race-baiting arguments...

The Commonwealth of Kentucky and FEMA Work Together

Both Kentucky and FEMA are working to meet storm emergency needs.

ATLANTA -- Kentucky’s storm emergency needs continue to be a priority for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), which is coordinating and delivering federal resources to the commonwealth.

With widespread power outages affecting communications capabilities in Kentucky, FEMA’s Mobile Emergency Response Support units – called MERS – have moved from Thomasville, Ga. and Frederick, Md. to Kentucky.

MERS assets include portable radio towers, repeaters and radios; multiple portable KU Band satellite systems and satellite telephones to help officials in areas where cellular towers are inoperative.

FEMA also has deployed its Incident Response Vehicle, technicians, and radio/repeater equipment to construct a radio network capable of providing communications.

“This is an amazing effort and we have worked long hours to move supplies and equipment. Our working partnership with FEMA ensures we are getting excellent help under difficult circumstances for Kentuckians suffering from the winter storm,” said Gen. John W. Heltzel, director of Kentucky’s Division of Emergency Management.

FEMA and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers are working together to provide industrial-size generators needed to power critical facilities. Teams are assessing needs and installing these generators each day.

FEMA also is fulfilling the commonwealth’s requests for diesel fuel and unleaded gasoline. Delivery of a total 80,000 gallons began Saturday at commonwealth staging areas in Greenville and Paducah.

Other federal agencies are supporting FEMA as necessary.

More Than 700,000 Still Without Power in Kentucky

While Barry Obama lounges is 75 degree energy-wasting heat - he lets people freeze and die in Kentucky!

              Obama perspired, people expired

"Casualties from Tuesday's massive ice storm continued to climb across Kentucky yesterday, as six people died of suspected carbon monoxide poisoning -- including three found dead at their western Louisville home with a generator running in the garage."

                    Lemme tell you a story...

I was about 10 years old, riding bikes with my friend down the street. I hung out with him constantly. His mom was divorced and they all lived with their grandma. the mom, too. We were doing what 10 year-olds do in the summer, just outside fooling around, waiting for the ice cream man to roll by. It was 1975. The Reds were kicking ass.

My friend says his mom has this new boyfriend who used to play ball...he was a pitcher, and he was coming to pick his mother up for a "date" in a few minutes....we waited around to see the Big League ball player. The ice cream man show up, and we all get our popcicles.

Then this pimped out LTD pulls in...with electric windows and seats...I think maroon with a vinyl top. We roll up to it on our bikes, and there's this guy in there who doesn't get out of the car. His mom isn't ready, and he waits without getting out of the car....ever.

I asked him if he played baseball and he says, "yeah, I used to." I asked if he plays for the Reds, he says no, but he wished he did. His windows are down. We're all looking in the car and shit like that.

Finally, his mom comes out and get in, she talks to my friend a few seconds, and they roll off.

That was the last time he ever came by the house.

                    His name?

                    Jim Bunning.

In 1952, Bunning married Mary Catherine Theis. They had five daughters and four sons They never divorced

I am going to enjoy watching "Sgt" Schlutz spend the next four years falling all over himself.

I will giggle with glee whenever Schlutz tries to call Obama out on things that Schlutz did not care about while Bush was President.

The 'others' will always try to bring down Obama in some way. Thing is they gotta get better with tha bullshit. I replied at a different site about the same thing.

I said, "LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - President Barack Obama has declared federal emergencies in Arkansas and Kentucky because of widespread outages caused by this week's snow and ice storm.

He declared a national emergency before 1/29/08.

                            Just sayin'...

Their thread started 2/1. Obama was on it like someone with a PROACTIVE approach should have been.

I try like hell to keep things all fluffy bunnies and pink daisies. But brutal truth smacks me in the ass all the time.
