Before the Federal Reserve we didn't have the huge bubbles and depressions. 1929 and 2009 show central controlled banking and fiat currencies benefit a few and screw the masses. It's better to base currencies on market traded commodities than to have a privately owned bank set interest rates. Right now the Federal Reserve is more powerful than the US Congress.
