Now we know why Africa has never become a high tech mecca. Talk about still living in the dark ages.

I agree with George Carlin. I like individuals but I hate groups. I used to be in an investment club. I was the officer of finance and did everything through a broker which did our taxes for us. The other members of the club didn't like paying the fees and hired a grad student to take care of the transaction paperwork. Come tax time things were a mess. I run businesses and know what's a good deal and what's not and we were getting a great deal going through the broker.

I also bailed from Rotary International. It was full of assholes trying to impress people. Especially the women trying to prove the could be bigger egotistical, greedy assholes than men.

About the only group of people that are decent anymore is snowmobilers. I've been riding sleds my whole life and if someone breaks down you stop and help them. It hasn't changed over the years. It's a cool unwritten code. Fellow sledders help fellow sledders no matter what, how long it takes and how bad the weather is. I've gotten horribly stuck sleds out for others and they have done the same for me.

People over use the term racist these days. Do we even know what it means? I stated a true fact. Africa has never been a high tech mecca and if you don't think treating kids that way is the dark ages then maybe you have a wierd view of the world.

EKET, Nigeria – The nine-year-old boy lay on a bloodstained hospital sheet crawling with ants, staring blindly at the wall.

His family pastor had accused him of being a witch, and his father then tried to force acid down his throat as an exorcism. It spilled as he struggled, burning away his face and eyes. The emaciated boy barely had strength left to whisper the name of the church that had denounced him — Mount Zion Lighthouse.

A month later, he died.

Nwanaokwo Edet was one of an increasing number of children in Africa accused of witchcraft by pastors and then tortured or killed, often by family members. Pastors were involved in half of 200 cases of "witch children" reviewed by the AP, and 13 churches were named in the case files.

Some of the churches involved are renegade local branches of international franchises. Their parishioners take literally the Biblical exhortation, "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live."

"It is an outrage what they are allowing to take place in the name of Christianity," said Gary Foxcroft, head of nonprofit Stepping Stones Nigeria.
