Frankly, I'm a little pissed that Nitro takes four posts to make one good point. It's just blatantly gaming the post count.

Yeah, but the debt is all on paper.

I mean, who gives a fuck if we owe China trillions? It's not like they're ever gonna call in their chits, because if they do and America goes bust, China loses their #1 customer. Would be willing to wager the US buys more useless crap from China than 3 out of the 5 top industrialized nations combined.

The economic situation we find ourselves in as a nation has been a LONG time coming. The conditions were in place even before W took office, truth be told. Far as the taxpaying citizenry goes, there are more than a few who bear responsibility for near-generational apathy about who has been running the show re: elected officials, corporate leaders and the like.

Who the fuck even knows what the American public wants anymore? You can't ask the government to fund infrastructure projects, fix healthcare, fight multiple wars overseas and every other damn thing under the sun for nothing, yet nobody wants to pay more in taxes. Well, you can't spend a dollar twice.

Hey, I love America. I love my country. Bearing that in mind, it hurts me to say overall the impression I get is that this nation has morphed into a nation of whiners and self-proclaimed victims. Nobody REALLY wants to make the personal sacrifices and do the heavy lifting needed to secure the future of this nation. I sure as fuck don't if a majority of my fellow citizens aren't going ot. People TALK a good game about what should happen or needs to happen. Few have the combination of power, will, balls and selflessness to really make great things happen for this country.

Any big surprise we are where we're at?

          Fuck it.

God bless you, Terry! As always, no partisan crap coming from you.

I would give you a "thanks" but I'm out. Can I borrow one from someone? Please?

I'd give him mine for you, but China has already started selling out of U.S. treasuries. It won't be caught off guard next time.

maybe it'll get to a point where there is enough pressure to pass a balance budget amendment and congress will actually be forced to pay for things they can afford, and if they want to pay for something they'll have to cut things in other places (or raise taxes).

Better to have to have these discussions in terms of what to cut and what to spend than to just pay for everything like money isn't important.
I've got the cure you're thinkin' of.

If the government would just cut out all the useless funding on pork barrel deals and special interest projects, we could free up billions of dollars.
And to be honest, if the government showed more fiscal responsibility in it's budgeting I wouldn't mind a small tax increase to help America pay off it's debt.

But that isn't what the greed mongers want, bro.
They want our kids and grandkids buried in debt so their offspring can take over and rule the world.
It resembles slavery if you really think about it.

Problem is, a revolt will eventually take place.
Better teach your kids how to defend themselves in all aspects of combat if you want them to have a chance to survive.
