Funny you should mention that. But I heard a story on state-run radio (NPR), that statistically, Hispanics that are both long term illegal immigrants, and those that have recently obtained citizenship or green cards, are actually far more patriotic, appreciative of the U.S. system, and trust the gov't to a much greater extent (even under Bush) than the equivalent U.S. citizen demographic.

Why?

The reason being is that immigrants from other countries know what it's like to live in a truly lawless and corrupt state run by tin pots and various political parties acting like gangs. Unlike their teabagger counterparts, they've actually experienced the so-called teabaggers' worst nightmares and beyond, and have come to the conclusion that the U.S. system, with all it's failings, is still far better than most others and offers a chance of real security, hope for a better life, and entrepreneurship.

It just sort of makes many Americans seem like whiny, emo bitches that take their good fortune for granted and overreact to bullshit partisan hoopla based on fear-mongering pussies and charlatans and clearly intentional misperception.

First generation immigrants are usually good for a country because you skim off all the hard working people with the motivation to get off their ass and move to where the work is.

Problems can start with the second generation though who have no memory of how bad things were back home and feel alienated in the new country. That isn't helped when they then also get shit from right wingers.
