The thing is, in some cases it is not just a matter of kidding around. I can only imagine what would happen if one of my co-workers or boss saw me reading, let alone responding to some of the drivel that gets written on this site at times. It's one of the reasons I tend to avoid the FL during the work day, much the same as I don't go into the Picture-Palooza thread either. It simply isn't worth the hassle. There are several sites not accessible through the filters we have set up, as that is part of working for a municipality. So I'll be damned if I'll screw up being able to view this site during the day by taking any unnecessary chances when people choose to just "kid around".

Firstly, Byrd was in the Klan in like the 1930s IIRC. So, um, he can't really be pigeonholed by that just like the fact that many politicians were drawn to radical groups in their youth. I don't think you can merely judge someone by what they did in their 20s. But if it makes you sleep better at night, more power too ya'...Comment

my main issue with Bird is that I believe he very much so represents why there should be term limits in the house and the senate
the amount of money he has waisted on things like a monorail system for WVU and other things of that nature is rather ridicolous
I don't believe in his later years he was really that bad of a guy, I believe that a person's view point on things can change, and I suppose I'll take the guys word for it, rather than just think otherwise. Fundamentally I agree with what his politics were, but I was rather impressed to hear how well versed he was with the constitution and the bill of rights, something I wish more politicians would further emulate in that respect.Still waiting for a relevant Browns TeamComment
