The slave traders in Africa were black. The Europeans just bought them at the slave auctions on the coast but the whole distribution system to the coast was ran by black Africans. They never tell you this fact. Not that I'm condoning what the British, French, Portuguese and Spanish did to get cheap labor to run their American plantations.
Things have not changed so much. When your competition is using slaves you have to as well. Now days we just import the finish goods or agricultural products made and grown by slaves from corporate contracted sweat shops and plantations. I might add some factories in China sell their underage workers into prostitution if they don't tow the line. There still is plenty of slavery just below the surface. No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!Comment

So when some black person is crying about slavery and blaming the white man, may we point out his Nike shoes and trendy clothing he wears are made by slaves and he's supporting it by buying the stuff. If they really cared about slavery they would boycott such good. No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!Comment

Technically, that merely makes you a historian. Of course, if the facts you choose to present are twisted in order to reflect some sort of agenda, then perhaps you could be considered a racist. Or better yet, a racist historian practicing in revisionist history. It's all in the spin.

But look who the shoe companies have as the faces of their product. Black athletes & rappers. Michael Jordan did more for the athletic shoe than anyone. Michael Jordan - a black man who made hundreds of millions from hocking the product of sweat shop slaves.
Money changes people...as shown here in this highly scientific test.

I do try, although it is impossible for the consumer in todays America to not buy items from overseas. Nick started a great "Made in the USA" thread a long time ago, and we posted all the things still made here in it. Was a fun thread. Hard to find stuff nowadays.“Great losses often bring only a numb shock. To truly plunge a victim into misery, you must overwhelm him with many small sufferings.”Comment
