There is a middle ground and it's what decides what party gets the White House. It's called the swing vote and it's not party loyal at all. Bush lost because he raised taxes after promising he wouldn't and Ross Perot stole votes away from him. Clinton got a second term because the economy was good and we were actually paying down our debt then. Unfortunately Clinton supported NAFTA, more outsourcing of jobs, and deregulated the banking industry allowing derivative speculation. Now we are paying for it.
