Got gas tonight at $3.589 for the cheap stuff. 87 octane I think. Not even from a big chain station but the cheap 7-11 gas. The premium was $3.899. If gas goes & stays over $4 a gallon for any length of time, Obama will have a very tough time being re-elected (assuming Repubs nominate someone with even half a brain). The public in general don't care about long term plans or changing tax laws to close loopholes or add deductions. They care about shit they are actually paying for every single day. Gas is something almost every American buys every week. More so than groceries, insurance, medications, anything. If gas gets too high the blame will fall on the President. Even if dude has zero to do with it and keeps it from hitting $6 a gallon. People will see the $4 per gallon and be livid. Especially since we are SUV & truck addicts that take 25 gallons minimum to fill. $100 fill-ups will piss anyone off.


I remember in the 80's when my first friend started to drive we would all pitch in for gas to get to the beach on Saturday. $0.86 per gallon. Good times. But also the days when we could all ride in the bed of the pickup down the freeway. You get 8 friends to all pitch in $1 and damn near fill your tank up.

There is a happier medium, it's got far more extreme in the last 20 years or so.

Gas will be $8/gal. this summer along with out of control food prices...

Those two things combined will start riots in our cities...

Even the tree hugging pseudo-environmentalist homo-libs will be demanding we drill here there and everywhere...

And oil companies are gearing up to drill like Nitro said, but prices wont come down because real inflation will be kicking in because of the trillions of worthless paper dollars being printed...
