I pretty much turn off anyone that blames one side or another. Think about it. If you had the money to buy off politicians what you would want is a polarized country with one side blaming the other for problems that benefit you and your rich friends. It doesn't matter if it's a Democrat or Republican, the rich win with both and when it's gone too far in one party the next one gets their guy in. So all you have to do is buy off both parties and you get what you want. Michael Moor is just another paid off shill who stirs the pot. As is Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin on the other side. What scares the hell out of the establishment is people who try to get both sides to work towards a common goal. If that happens their control system fails to work.

You still have stuff like Apple, Google, Facebook, Microsoft and Hollywood.

We have a ton of technology. That's why the Chinese still want to do business with us. They want our technology. Personal computers, the internet, motion pictures were all US inventions. There's two main problems we have. We outsourced too much manufacturing and our schools don't graduate enough technically qualified people. There are lot's of technology jobs here if you are qualified for them and they pay well.

Another huge industry here is agriculture. How to feed the world using minimum water is the next real challenge. I think that area and alternative energy technology might be what will pull the US out of the mud in the future. What the world needs is cheap electricity. If you have that, you can solve the water problem because you can desalinate sea water and since most the world's population lives next to the ocean, water doesn't need to be taken from the inland areas to the coast.

So it will be interesting.

The future of the US can be seen by the things it is doing so well with just now, technology and innovation. If the fundamentalists and superstitious get much more control of your education system then I think you are fucked.

There are almost certainly people who post on this board whose lives have been shortened by Bush stopping the funding of stem cell research through a mixture of superstition and ignorance.

I never saw religion in the school and I grew up in a pretty religious community. Other than the yearly Christmas program there was no religion at school. What has hurt our educational system is it became focused on making everyone equal and too focused on not hurting anyone's feelings. Also, too many parents aren't involved in their children's education process and treat school more like a day care center than a place that will help their child thrive in the real world later on. If the kid doesn't do homework at home, the school can't do much for him. That's the problem I see. Maybe some mean nuns with a ruler to hit the kids with would do some good in our soft society.

The thing is all accredited universities have to meet a certain standard. I don't care if you take biology at Brigham Young University or Norte Dame, it's not going to differ much from a non-religious school. Religion is all about money and these universities want rich alumni. The higher education is fine; even in the religious universities it's that the public schools and parents aren't preparing the average student for college well enough. Something went wrong 40 years ago and they haven't fixed it. In the 50's and 60's it seemed to work and in the 1970's it went to shit. We actually got less religious and the schools got worse.
